Don't know if anyone heard about the open event Gamesnash.ie had in Party Station in Ballincoolin last Friday.

I got a call from gamesnash asking me to come along and that there would be a gaming competition.

Turns out, we were playing WWE Legends of Wrestlemania. I had never played the game before but managed to get some practice in before the tourney started.

I ended up winning the tourney and won Resi 5 for the PS3. (I'm not a wrestling fan, so didn't want that game)

Party Station is pretty cool, they have loads of 50-inch plasma TVs set up and lots of comfy chairs. there's also four wheels set up with racing seats and a projector to play 4-player racing games. There also dance mats, Rock Band, guitar hero etc.

There were snacks and drinks on the night as well.

I'd never been to anything like that before and was actually hesistant to go, but glad I did in the end. Everyone there from both Gamesnash and Party Station were super-nice and very friendly.

Gamesnash will apparently be holding more of these events and I think you should definitely try to make it next time.
Maybe we can play some proper tournament games like CoD, PES, SF4 etc...

Disclaimer: I've shopped on Gamesnash before, but I'm not associated with either Gamesnash or Party Station in any way - I just had fun and think they deserve a shout out for hosting a fun night.

I was there too - I won't say who you 'beat' to win the competition.....LOL....but I can be bribed

On topic, it was a very enjoyable evening.

Unfortunately for the gamesnash crew I don't think they got the support on the night that their hard work deserved.

Definitely will go to the next launch night, if there is one.

Thanks for the positive words guys :) 00011000 did indeed beat off all challengers on the night - fdevine won't tell you who but 00011000 shamelessly smacked a young teenager around the ring in the final. ;) ( Said young teenager had already knocked out one of the gamesnash staff along the way to the final and did come close to winning himself so we'll say 00011000 deserved it )

It's fair to say that quite a few people who had asked for tickets did not come to the event - we would have been expecting another 20 people. From a health and safety point of view we couldn't invite too many people as the party station venue has it's own fire and insurance limits etc. Maybe next time we overbook it like the airlines do knowing that a certain percentage of people won't turn up. Or we ring and confirm the morning of the event. There were people turned away as such who had expressed an interest in coming too late who's places were taken by people who did not show up which was disappointing for all parties. That's a side effect though of offering free tickets - they are easily unused as they have not cost anything in the first place. :)

That said we were very pleased with the event itself - it gave us an opportunity to meet some of our customers as well as try out the partystation venue itself in a party atmosphere and we'd like to take this opportunity to publicly thank partystation for the use of their venue and equipment. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the evening. We will be holding more events around the stronger releases in the next few months and will be using the feedback and experience gained from this initial event to make the next launch nights even better.

    Hi Gamesnash

Good to hear there will be more events. Look forward to attending.

Finally, not wanting to take away from the OP's big 'WIN' :D , but that 'teenager' is only 11.

He also 'beat' my 6 year old en-route to the final. The big bully..... ;)

Only joking OP. I'm not bitter. You're fellow finalist is out for revenge though.

I sense a rematch on the cards ;)

haha, I really did feel like a big bully taking out all the kids at the game, and I felt kinda bad after winning, but seriously, most of the fights were over before I knew it! I was having a serious moral dilemma about whether I should throw the final or not, but hey, what's done is done!

I wasn't trying to "big-up" my win at all... just trying to draw attention to the fact there was a competition and the prize was great. I went home and played it with my mate until 3am!

So yeah, maybe next time I won't be so oblivious with so many kids about, but then again, it is a competitive world out there :P

Look forward to any further events. Well done again.
