been considering picking up one of the gps distance devices, such as the garman golflogix or similar, i.e cheaper :)

has anyone any experience or recommendations with these and most importantly - are they approved by the gui? afaik theyre ok by the usga and r&a...

    Hi Mag -

This just happens to be my area of specific knowledge. I run an optics store here in the states.... :)

There was another thread (can't remember where - i think about sunglasses???) where we discussed if gps/rangefinders are allowed by rule. According to another (experienced) poster, rule 14-3 does allow for a distance aid. Note I have not consulted the rule myself, but I will give benefit of doubt.

There are some units that will accommodate for slope, which may go over the line, so be wary of that. The Bushnell web site does claim rule approval on many of their units.

If you'd like info on my store, please message me and I will provide info - don't want to post commercial here... :)

    Harry

PS - I've been lurking here some time before posting. This is a fine forum, though I think I'm the only one from US! No worries - nice community...

Hi fellow golfers, can anyone direct me to a good area to get a GPS system for golf. Was playing with a fellow member who was using the GOLF LOGIX and have to say it was very accurate. I live in Clontarf and would be interested in a new system or reliable second hand...Thanks
