Hi all, my friend is looking at a second hand Seat Ibiza and also a toyota corrola both are 2004, millage and all are roughly the same. Except for the price the corrolla is 5000 more. He just cant make up his mind which one would be better to go for, all he wants is something very reliable.

How would you advise, I myself think the toyota might be better.

Both cars are a different class, the Ibiza is the same class as Toyota Yaris. Is it €5000 more or €500 more?

Both cars are reliable, the Corolla would according to surveys have the edge over the Ibiza though.

The Corolla will have the advantage of having a 97bhp 4 cylinder engine, in all likelyhood the Ibiza will be the 3 cylinder 1.2 engine with 55 or 65bhp.

The Ibiza is quite a nice car (my favourite of the Polo/Ibiza/Fabia cousins) but it won't match the Corolla in terms of space, comfort, power or interior build quality. On the other hand, the Ibiza is a more modern design, will be ligher on fuel, is much cheaper, and may appeal due do it's smaller dimensions.

For my money its hard to beat the value in the Ibiza - smart looking cars as well

The Corolla is worth about 5000, so the price of the Ibiza is zero? I know which one I'd pick ;)

Ya alot of people would have told us that the ibiza would have been in the same class as a VW polo. Looks like the corolla would be the better of the two then. Ok thanks for the help lads.
