Is it worth spending the cash...

Just picked up an 08 MPV kiddie carrier in UK last Sat and now need to sell my 03 Volvo S60 to help pay VRT.

Anyway, the quandary is how much I am prepared to spend on it in order to sell it. The S60 is running great and has never given any trouble but it's now on 100K miles and needs timing belt etc done.

Am getting some prices but am weighing up whether its of much benefit potentially spending up to €1k on timing belt and tyres etc in order to maybe sell it for around €6k? My thought process is that it may make it more attractive if these things are done and its ready to roll for many more 1000's of miles motoring.

Other comparables on carzone (20T, Auto, Petrol, Leather, etc) are between €8k and €12k but I would be happy to get €6k and be rid of it - but €5k profit if I spend €1k to get it.

Any thoughts - or am I just wasting time and money thinking someone out there will be interested in this car?

    Thanks for any comments
    Paddy

I'd say you would be lucky to get 6 grand for it. 100k on a 2 litre petrol with a car that there is not much demand for just doesnt make for easy selling.

I'd agree with Saab Ed - you'd be blessed to get 6 grand for it. I recently had a 05 one with 100,000kms on it, and iirc, i got around 8.5/9 grand for it.

I guess I am still in the same situation then cause to get anything I may need to just spend some money on it; t/belt and tyres etc

TBH anything I get for it will be a bonus so if someone came along and offered me €4k I would happily take it.

Some of the chancers on carzone are in for a long wait then if they think they are gonna get the prices they are asking!

So guess it's back to the same question then as to whether its worth spending a grand to make 3 back... or will I still be stuck with it and a grand outta pocket:confused:
