Is it possible to record via sky plus programmes that are shown on the extra channels, ie UTV and ITV 2 ect.

Unfortuantely no as they are not 'officially' sky channels - you can access them all right but as they are not part of the official programme planner you cant record them. I used to watch ITV back in the day but I cant say I miss it at all - TV3 basically shows all the popular shows that ITV would have anyway i.e Corrie and the X factor (not that I'm a fan of either!! BTW)

Hmm, I like Sky Plus, but I also like being able to record from other channels. But which one is better?

There's only one way to find out....

Best thing to do is use a dvd recorder. Works fine for me on the extra channels.

Isnt Utv meant to be coming onto the Irish Epg sometime this year, I think Sky are seriously doing themselves out of business by not having it on their epg. I understand its upto the channels themselves to want to be listed but with UPC having it on a like for like channel swap is what most people always look for...

You are forgetting the stumbling block that is TV3.

I know they own TV3 but as I already said UPC broadcast both and not all programs are on both TV3 and UTV or at the same time...

UTV do not own TV3. ITV don't either. Programming rights on cable differ to those on satellite.

    +1

I finally convinced my parents to get sky HD (I'm 16 btw).
However they and my little brother watch Harry Hill every Saturday night, and they record it, then pick it up 15 mins in to skip the ads!
The thing is I haven't told them they can't record UTV and they're going to be pissed. Not to mention the loss of Senanta Ireland (I didn't mention that one either)
