    Happy Monday everyone,,,,

Im no teenager anymore but lately ive been breaking out in really bad spots...sometimes it ties in with the time of the month but not always.
These days I never seem to have a nice clear face...
I have been trying to eat extra healthily, drink lots of water all that kind of thing and it hasnt helped... I cleanse my skin really well- unfortunately I am wearing make-up everyday -BECAUSE i just hate my skin so much at the moment :( I dont wanna start messing around with different creams in case it makes it worse!

    Has anyone got any tips...???

They are probably hormonal so no matter how much water you drink and how healthy you eat they won't go away!! If you go on the dianette pill it will clear it up!!
I never got spot before and all of a sudden i started breaking out around my time of month, it was very annoying, the spots would just start to go away and i would break out in a whole new batch!! I went on dianette and after about 2 months there was a huge improvement!! Now Its unusual for me to get 1 spot!

    Hi OP,

I feel your pain :) My skin went through a patch there of being all over the place and im not a teenager anymore either. It was mainly down to me not following a proper skin care routine and not removing make up all the time before I went to bed. Ive tried lots of stuff and had been doing well on Dermalogica. After a while I fell back into old habits and even the Dermalogica wasnt really working anymore.

Long story short, I hear about Dermaclinic from my aunt, they have brances in Tallaght, Drogheda and Blackrock. You can google them for the contact numbers. I went for a free consultation and they are lovely and really helpful and professional. I got started on a course fo treatment with Jan Marini Products, dear enough but soo soo worth it :) I havent looked back since. My skin is clearer than I have ever seen it. You have to keep up the twice a day and follow their advice strictly but the stuff is a miracle worker. You should at least try the free consultation.

    Hope that helps
    Good Luck

I agree with Lees, I had terrible skin as a teenager and went on Dianette, worked so quickly and completely cleared up my spots! A lot of people get very moody on it though, it's not for everyone

Are you stressed out? It could be hormonal. Did you go to your GP? Do you take a lot of dairy? Would you try a facial?
I had that problem when I hit my 20's and went to my doc when I couldn't take it anymore. Started on Dianette and haven't had problem skin since. The other probs with Dianette on the other hand...

I went througha stage for a good while where for no aprticular reason I got spots, in places I'd never got them before like on my forehead. My sister is a health freak and told me not to go to a doctor cause he will just put me on anti-biotics and they are bad for me etc etc. I tried everything, changed my diet, water, special tea and vitimins etc etc - made no difference.

I went to a doctor, he said its not bad enough for anti-biotics and gave me a cream called "Duac" http://www.duacgel.com/duac/default.htm

Within a week they were gone! I don't use ti every day but I do dabb a little on if I have a spot etc

I'm cursing my syster for the year or more of bad skin - I should have avoided her hippy advice. Go to a doctor, they know best

I'm 22 and I've tried so many things for my skin it was unreal. I am always suffering from breakouts and blocked pores. I ended up trying the oil cleansing method and it was the first thing that really worked for me. It took care of the blocked pore problem almost straight away and clear skin followed. I still get the occasional spot but this is so far the most successful I've ever been at getting rid of my spots. It's made my skin far less greasy too.

    http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/

It's worth a try- I use a mix of castor oil (for cleansing) and jojoba oil (for moisturising) every second day before I shower.

I'm in the Dianette fan club too, I tried every cream/soap/gel under the sun and nothing worked until I tried Dianette, it worked wonders for me. I think sometimes the only way to sort these things out is from the inside. I know it's a headwrecker so I hope you get it sorted soon.

    Hi OP
I have had problems with my skin for a long time and I also took Dianette. It worked for about two years but then it stopped working so I stopped taking it and went on the hunt for something else. I have greasy skin that is prone to blackheads and painful lumpy spots but I have started using an ayurvedic method and my skin has cleared up completely.
Ayurveda is all about balance and it recommends using essential oils on your skin similar to the oil cleansing method mentioned earlier. Basically if your skin gets too dry from using astringent products it will produce excess oil to compensate and this then causes relapses after the first initially period of a product working. Instead I use a mix of almond, rose, sandalwood and lavendar oil on my skin and because I dont strip away the natural oil in my skin it has actually become less greasy and much more even toned and healthy looking. I also dont get anymore breakouts. Its a quite inexpensive way to look after your skin and if you want more information feel free to PM me.

It's important to keep in mind that Dianette is supposedly (I don't know for sure) only meant to be taken for a short period of time, I think 1-2 yrs as it's got a lot of hormones?? I'm not sure though.

Try Dermalogica first, they have a good overnight clearing gel, it will help clear up any blemishes!

I took Dianette for 5 years with no side effects...but the college doctor recommended I try Yasmin because the hormones are really high in Dianette. On that a few months and skin is still ok, so far so good!

WOW- what a great response! Thanks to everyone who have made recommendations...( if theres anymore id be grateful)

Re Dianette- Im not in a position to go on the pill at the moment and yeah, Id rather not have any of the other side effects that go along with it but thanks anyway...

I actually decided to go to the doc about it this morn and he prescibed me with Duac( someone mentioned this in the thread) so im gonna try that...

The essential oil ideas all sound pretty good so when I may try these too

Seriously, thanks to everyone for being so helpful!!!
Watch this space... Ill be on the front of Vogue in no time:D

If the duac doesn't work, ask for a blood test. You might have raised testosterone levels (a sign of PCOS which often gives you skin problems) which need investigating.
