Arriving at that time, you should be fine. You are probably better leaving it as late as possible. If you are on the M1 at Dublin Airport for 5, you'll be fine.

GVS is just off the Westlink so it is more or less motorway / hqdc the whole way there with the exception of Newry.

You'll be grand in Belfast after about 6:30pm. I'd actually be more concerned about Newry, it turning into a right bottleneck now that the bypass is progressing...

I know about the Newry hell already... seems the earliest I can get out of work is 5:00 unfortunately, will be on the M50 at J10 by 5:05 though.

Bit of a long shot, but does anyone know if the carpark on top of Great Victoria is 24hr?

Not too sure about the one behind the bus station but the Victoria Square one definitely is and that is not too far of a stroll away.

If it were me making that journey, I'd take the exit off the motorway for the Kings Hall/A55 and boot up the Lisburn road into the city centre. Then you just need to take a turn onto Ormeau Avenue I think.

I'd stick to the Westlink given they've finished the improvement scheme. Turn right along Grosvenor Road, then left on to Great Victoria Street. Turn right at the statue and then follow the road, turning right around Belfast City hall. Go past the Ulster Bank keeping going right around the back of the City Hall (Donegall Square South) passing HSBC, then turn left on to Linehall Street. Take the 4th left on to Ormeau Avenue.

BT2 8HS is RTE's postcode if that helps.

There is roadside parking in that area, but you'll need UK coins. You may have difficulty getting a space also.

If you want to park in Victoria Square, keep going straight when you pass the front of the city hall then follow the signs.

By the time I arrived the on-street along Ormeau Avenue was free. Worst part of the journey was the M50 M1 junction - as predicted Belfast was actually grand; as was Newry weirdly!
