Sensational Cycling Dream Last Night

It was stage 5 of the Tour de France, a time trial. My point of view was from the back of a motorbike which was following Alberto Contador. Lance Armstrong had just caught Contador for a minute and David Zabriskie, starting behind both of them was fast approaching, catching Armstrong for 1 minute, and Contador for 2 minutes.

A very dangerous corner was coming up, Zabriskie decided to overtake both riders in front of him in a formula1esque manouevre around the corner but Zabriskie being Zabriskie overcooked the corner, creaming himself on the crowd barriers whilst also clipping Armstrong's wheel and rendering Armstrong's his bike unusable. (Perhaps somewhat premonitionally) Contador hops off his bike and surrenders it to Arsmtrong.

Without getting to see the result of the stage, the dream goblin in my head fast forwards to the next stage, which was not a flat stage, nor a mountain stage, nor indeed another time trial...stage 6 of this years Tour de France was a football match...

Each team of 9 could choose 2 professional footballers to make up the 11 required to play the match. The match that was screened in my dream was Astana versus Quickstep. The rules were simple, if you win by 1 goal, every rider on the winning team, gains 1 minute on GC over every rider on the losing team, and so on for 2, 3+ goals.

Astana took an early 2-0 lead with 2 goals from Kiki Musampa (1 of their wildcard picks) with 1 assist from Jesus Hernandez and the other assist from Levi Leipheimer (who, apparently, is immense at football).

But a clanger from Astana's 2nd wildcard Petr Cech allows Claude Makelele to score a long ranger to allow Quickstep back into it. And with just seconds to go, Quickstep spring their final wildcard from the bench...who bizaarely, is Padraig Harrington, who one-twos on the edge of the area with Tom Boonen to place it in to the corner of the net. Harrington sprints over to the corner flag to celebrate by simulating a golf putt at the corner flag in front of the rapturous Quickstep fans who can't believe they haven't lost any time on GC to Astana by nicking a 2-2 draw.
