    Hi,

As I am considering studying medicine, I was wondering if anyone could recommend any books I can read that might give me a clearer idea of what I am getting into.

    All suggestions welcome!

    Thanks

I found this book a good read:

    Intern: A Doctor's Initiation - Sandeep Juahar

May be a bit far removed from studying medicine in Ireland, but well worth reading none the less.

I have been told it's not an accurate representation of the working conditions in the hospitals, but an interesting read regardless.

The house of god is where it's at.

Then read it a few months after graduation again.

i read that as a medical student, and it went totally over my head, couldnt 'get it' at all.

i then re-read it after i'd been working a while and suddenly it all made sense!

    a great book
