Nice thought to wake up to:

    Magners league
    Heineken Cup
    Triple Crown
    6 Nations
    Grand Slam

Be well worth a trip to get pics of the Paddy Slam while they are all here !

With leinster and Munster both in the hunt to retain both club trophies it could be a nice year of polishing ahead.

Incidentally where will all the 6N titles be kept ? Given lansdowne is not opne for business, nice to travel the around the provinces...

Probably not Im pretty sure, I have only noticed the 6N trophy and the dish ( the 3C ) being bandied around.

As an irish man Im no expert on what a Grand Slam trophy cabinet looks like !

Up until recently there was not even a 3C trophy. Ireland have won this 3 out of 4 occasions since its 1st appearnce in 2006 !

There is no Grand Slam trophy.

Actually good question OP, where will the trophies be kept ? Would it normally be Lansdowne ? Or IRFU HQ ? Do they go on public display at any stage ?

They should take a leaf outa the GAA's book and ensure they tour every primary school in the country over the next year in an effort to get more kids playing rugby.

Wouldn't it be nice to see the four of them on display in Thomond Park on the night of the Munster V Leinster game.

Somehow i dont see Munster putting Leinsters Magners League trophy in the Thomond Park cabinet, and i doubt Leinster would want to do that either.

I hadnt thought of that but its a massive massive achievment and the IRFU should be very proud of themselves. The set up we have is really starting to pay off.

You were correct. It is a title.
Did you know that the 6N trophy body remains the same but the sculpted top of lid is crafted to suit each winners (the Welsh feathers, English rose, Scottish Thistle, Irish shamrocks etc).

Its half a good idea !! It would be great to see the 6N trophies tour to every derby match. Guarnteed to boost attendances to bursting and would instill a great sense of pride at the matches also..

The other cups will stay where they are you would think, but would be awsome to see the whole lot at a neutral venue somewhere for a display or underage recruitment drive as suggested,....!

    Our cupboards are burstin !

Ya they should definitely bring the trophys around the grounds and give people the opportunity to get thier photo taken with the cups a couple of hours before kick off.

Not talking about having them in a trophy cabinet, more like available for a photoshoot oportunity at some spot around the ground for a few hours before and after the game.

IRFU owns the ground and the three teams that have acheived this feat.

They should just leave it there cos it'll be Munsters in a month or so anyway. Think of the hassle after taking it down to Thomond, then back up to Leinster then back down to Thomond again...seems like a lot of effort imo :p

At the risk of sounding pedantic, Thomand is owned by the Munster Branch, not the IRFU. For instance, when the Leinster schools finals was played in Lansdowne, the Leinster branch had to rent it off the IRFU and vice versa when it came to Ireland A matches.

Last year in Limerick ata tag rugby festival in Crescent rfc the heineken cup was doing the rounds.
A few lads spent a couple of hours letting people take photos with the cup which was cool.
Lovely trophy it is was supposed t be on display but most popel got to hold it and get a few pics nice touch.

Thomond Park is owned by the IRFU, not the Munster Branch. Though I believe it's possibly part-owned by the MB now that they helped fund the development, not really sure. The intricacies of ownership when we're talking of a parent organisation and its branches are not really clear anyway.
Donnybrook actually is owned by the LB (though obviously the RDS is not!).

You can be pedantic all you like but Thomond Park is owned by the IRFU.

Munster are a branch of the IRFU and are funded by the IRFU both in domestic games and European/provincial.

Local primary school in Clonakilty, had a visit from the Heinekin cup in the past few weeks, dont know if it was going all over the provenice or not.

While Thomand was bought by the IRFU in 1998 and then re-furbished to be used in the '99 World Cup, it is currently owned by the Thomand Park Stadium Company. I was under the impression that the Munster Branch was a major shareholder in this company, but I could be wrong as this opinion was due to appointments being made through the Munster Branch. My bad otherwise.

An IRFU company trading as 'Thomond Park'.

They'll need to give the Magner's League cup a good scrub first. It still smells like Bulmers...

It's a good time in Irish rugby alright!! Oh - and let's not forget the likes of Earls, Healy, Keatley, O'Donoghue, Cave, Pollock etc. etc. etc. who have already won a grand slam and are only coming through to the provincial fold now and will soon open a new generation of grand slam champions!! :)

Oh Good Lord. I just got this on another forum (while discussing the Grand Slam).

"im a massive munster fan but i have to say i was delighted for BOD - outstanding and deserved MOTM. it must be even more special for the non munster players as they havent celebrated for a long time (not meant to be condescending, just saying how elated they must feel)

    Words fail me.

This was the most innocent of feel good threads but pedantic debate over IRFU shelf compnaies has started to rot it.
