The Writers have confirmed that one of the main cast will die before the end of the current season. They have said it's not gonna be obvious and it's gonna be sudden - no lead up. They also said fans would be shocked, and after last years shock death (Amber), nothing would surprise me.
So who do you think it will be?
    Let the speculation begin...

    Here are my odds and speculation;

100/1 - House: It's a long shot, but it would certainly be shocking. They wouldn't kill him off, would they?

5/1 - Cuddy: If House and Cuddy got together, House would be happy and the writers couldn't possibly have that, so it could well be the Cudster. Let's hope not.

3/1 - Wilson: Easily the most unlucky character and probably the favourite of the fans, after House himself, so his death would be shocking and upsetting to fans, but again lets hope it's not Wilson.

50/1 - Chase: Execs have said that Chase will have a bigger role to play next season, so it would be unlikely for Chase to bite the big one.

50/1 - Cameron: Same reason as Chase, we've been assured she'd have a larger role next season.

2/1 - Foreman: Foreman would be my choice to bite the bullet. It would break up Foreteen and who doesn't want to see that happen. I also think his character has been done to death by now. The Execs are particularly fond of Foreman so that would cover the shock factor and would explain why we wouldn't expect it. I think he's the most expendable.

13/1 - Thirteen: We've been told it wouldn't be the obvious choice, and because of her illness Thirteen would be the obvious choice.

10/1 - Taub: More likely than Kutner or Thirteen, but I've a feeling that none of the newbies will be targeted.

20/1 - Kutner: While I admit it would be shocking, Kutner hasn't even had any big storylines yet, so for him to be killed off would be incredibly premature.

favourites would be Taub and thirteen because Taub has admitted to attempting suicide before and has had his share of bad luck. Thirteen is an obvious, alot of fans have not warmed up to her (me included) and she does have huntingtons so she could be killed off so they can cut their lossess now.

have to side with the captain, for shock value and narrative progression both Foreman and Cuddy are the two top choices.

    BUT

killing Foreman would be a pretty simple reversal of last years finale with thirteen filling Wilsons shoes, the effect on House would be the same emotions (just alot more) of the ones he went through with Amber so it wouldnt work too well.

    Killing Cuddy though

there have been hints already. Cameron has already briefly filled her shoes so there is prescedent for Cuddy to be easily replaced, the effect it would have on House would be huge, not to mention what would happen to the baby (if him and cuddy get together before she passess will House adopt?). Cuddy has been put into a sort of corner with nothing to do for this half of the season, she has her kid and she can handle her job, her only remaining issue is her and house. If they resolve that narratively the next step is either marriage (not literally but a focus on their attempt at a relationship) or death.

    Cuddy ftc

has to be, everone is either too new and so not shocking enough or too central to things or obvious. they wouldnt kill off Wilson would they..........

maybe they'll replace him with his twin brother with scytsophrenia.

I think it has to be either Cuddy, Wilson or Cameron and out of that lot Cuddy is the most likely choice. Cameron isnt enough of a regular at the moment to make it worth it and House needs Wilson to bounce off or he'd lose a lot of what makes him likable character-wise which just leaves Cuddy. As BlitzKrieg says theres not really anywhere else for her character to go - if they kill off someone else they still have the problem of trying to find something for her to do. Also, with Cuddy gone they can have a whole season of House battling it out with her replacement be it Cameron or someone else.

Personally I’d prefer it be Cameron dies as shes just too much of a goodie two shoes and seriously pisses me off with her rose tinted view of the world.

I read on EW that a major character in one of the US shows would commit suicide out of the blue. If it's House, then I think it will either be Taub (but given his financial woes, would it be a real shock?) or else Kutner (who, sadly, my money is on because I think Kal Penn is a more established actor and may want to get back to movies, and as we know nothing about him other than he used to be a bully at school, there would be nothing to predict this demise). Thirteen would be too obvious and given that Omar Epps threw himself under a train in his days as an ER doc, would they really kill Foreman off this way too?

i think wilson is far too devoloped to drop...

i think foreman is defo the favorite, but

camron was nearly running the show for a moment there, so if cuddy got the chop it would make room for camron to take a bigger role.
and they are probably close to out of cuddy ass/tit jokes =)

If its House then they will need to do alot before the finale to justify it as Cuddy wouldnt in the current situation do such a thing. Now if House fails to save her adopted child then maybe. But still Cuddy commiting suicide is a hard to accept.

I think we can rule out Cuddy and Wilson because House's character is just so because he has Cuddy and Wilson to bounce off of. EDIT: rethinking this (and as someone else already said), it could be Cuddy. I thought Cameron worked well in her role before (or even Foreman or Wilson as replacement?), and it'd make for a very interesting storyline.

It's been the one of the minions. I would guess it won't be Cameron or Chase (they were barely in this season, with 'more of a role' next season). It won't be 13 because that's too obvious (and, unless House has led me astray, not how Huntington's plays out). So, it's down to Taub, Kutner and Foreman. Foreman would certainly be the most shocking. I don't know if the team would work without Foreman though, he's annoying but he works well.

hmmm a quick look around online and a few other spoiler sites (1 where I nicked my new sig from *whistle*) most seem to point to Kutner because both Cuddy and Wilson are confirmed for the next season it seems. Also it seems according to the casting a role of Hindu Priest is in the finale.

Which if its true, i'll be really p*ssed because I like Kutner alot and will really miss him if they kill him off.

I've decided because it doesnt make narrative sense to have two seasons in a row end with the killing off of a character that I will opt that the House crew are taking the p*ss and the *main character to die* will be steve McQueen the rat. :

    Didn't Steve McQueen die already?

I wish I hadn't read the part about the Hindu Priest, because that pretty much clears it up (unless its a curve ball and Taub/Foreteen/someone else is Hindu....). Damn my lack of control when it comes to reading spoilers...

Maybe they're killing one cast member per year? So in the final season it'll just be House. Talking to the janitor again.

No!!! Not Kutner. Really hope it ain't him.
Speaking of Janitor's though wouldn't be interesting if Neil Flynn joined the cast of House? I think himself and Hugh Laurie would make a fantastic comedy duo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

if you want to keep up with the spoiler reveals on who it could be:

    http://www.housemd-guide.com/spoilers.php

Consensus does seem to point to kutner though all the same.

Seeing as one of the quotes says its the last six episodes that will lead up to the *suicide* so it might be from the next episode that it will finally start to make sense why its bloody kutner

Otherwise start looking over the current one (locked in: the first of the six) to look for clues

The only one I spot was how kutner looked after Taub took credit for his idea, he might start to feel everyone is walking over him etc.

But it would have to get alot worse to make suicide fit.

Also someone is getting married, most bets is on Chase/cameron because its the *duh* thing but because thirteen/foreman have such a limited time together I would think they would make more sense to rush into it (I still think its Foreman thats gonna die)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,373 ✭✭✭Dr Galen

well if it's Kutner then something very very depressing must be happening pretty damn soon otherwise it's just gonna be wierd

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,780 ✭✭✭JohnK

I dont see Kutner in the House April Fools clip. I'd imagine thats something they'd have done when all of them were around...

    Wow like.

Yep. Totally didn't see it coming, though one had to have assumed it'd be one of the 6 doctors who make up House's team past and present.

Have to admit I cried at the end.

    Wow, didn't see that coming!

I really liked the episode as it explored his past, very nice ending too.

Aw! Up til the final scenes I thought it was a pretty crappy exit for someone that was a main character for two years, but they redeemed it well. Taub's breakdown was particularly poignant.

Oh, and Meat Loaf was in one of the beds!

Edit: Just read that Kal Penn left because he snagged a job as Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Liaison. So he won't be appearing in season 6 of Lost then!

No need to say the following is a HUGE SPOILER.

    This just broke this afternoon:
    http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/04/house-exclusive.html

100s of stories on all major news sources, but it seems that Entertainment Weekly broke the story. Amazing how they kept it a secret for so long.

    wow, my 1st post :)

pity he didnt take 13 with him

    *grumble*grumble*

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I am holding off commenting until they actually get to the end of the season. Most of us assumed the suicide would be somewhat a climax of some sort to a plotline, but instead its the starting point for what could be the best set of episodes in the series in a long time.

So at the moment I hate it becuase I really really really liked Kutner as a character and that the complete lack of him in the episode feels sort of weird when it gels with him having already left for his new job, makes me feel like he just got up and left and they couldnt have him in the episode. Its made worse that at this point of the season he was the character with the most potential to have interesting new plots as most of the others have been threading over the same things.

But like I said I will hold off until we see the actual finale.

oh yes, of course moving to work in the whitehouse what else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

anyway moving on to the next development.

One of the couples is getting married it seems as there is a bachelor party scene.

Alot of people assumed it was chase and cameron but rumours are changing that its not them.

I assumed Foreteen was a more obvious choice.
20/1 - Kutner: While I admit it would be shocking, Kutner hasn't even had any big storylines yet, so for him to be killed off would be incredibly premature.

shame no one took the captain up on these odds :D

In part because I tried not to read the spoilers but I didn't think the death would happen in this week's episode. Really was a pity it wasn't 13. Such a pointless character.

Anybody else get the feeling that
Taub killed Kutner? I just got this feeling from how Taub was acting that he was trying to hide something, and there was even a point where House, after he decided it was murder, looked at Taub in a weird way, I thought he was going to accuse him.

Definitely crossed my mind! But as uncomfortable as it is it was simply suicide. I think Taub's problem is that he had attempted suicide himself and maybe therefore should have recognised the signs or at least House thinks so. House also feels he is losing his edge which is setting things up for future episodes. Excellent episode even though i felt like muck after....heavy stuff!!:(

Is it just me or have they jumped from one sensational story to the next in the space of one episode when a number of storylines could have been spread out over a few episodes - House on methadone,Wilson's brother, the House/Cuddy/baby thing. I wonder if what happened in "Saviours" will even get a mention next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

I wonder if what happened in "Saviours" will even get a mention next week.

Well its been rumoured for a while that Amber was to reapear and that someone in the house team was to marry as they had filmed a bachelour scene for the series finale, so both of these are plotlines that are running to the end of the season at least. But alot of people assumed Amber was to reapear in the series finale only along with whoever was to commit suicide.

Since the suicide was not the climax but the starting point of the drama, its expected that the other two rumoured elements show up I admit a bit sooner then expected.

It looks like though House is stuck with Amber for a number of episodes, and the chase, cameron plotline is going as far as a bachelour party at least this season.

I have failed every prediction so far with this story arc.

Didnt put money on kutner, I thought it would have been thirteen and foreman getting married and I was expecting Amber to show up as some final thoughts message for House when he does something stupid again.

But they have gone somewhere much cooler with her.

I dont know if it would technically be jumping the shark if she remained as a permanent character, House's hullicination as a credit?

Would anyone else feel it would be a bit much? It would make him a less infallable character if he always felt he was going mad. But it could end up going to some stupid plotlines sometimes.

Anyone know why ep 22 didn't air? Is it going to be the finale?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

no house tends to skip a week every 3 episodes so the next episode airs next monday night.

check wiki for dates before disapointment is my advice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

just add yet another rumour for the finale shows up early.

looks like it will end with the wedding now (they said it was 2 weeks to the wedding in the latest episode, so that's two episodes?)

next on the list of rumours to happen before this series ends is the house/cuddy bangathon...

will this happen next week or will it be something they will keep for the finale?

my money is on it happening next week because rumours are the finale is dark dark dark...

and unless cuddy is a bad lay the bangathon cannot be dark enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,722 ✭✭✭anotherlostie

Imagine Cuddy and House doing the deed and Amber hovering over them while they are at it. Creepy!

I wonder will the wedding be a success? There is still that lingering Cameron/ House thing, together with Psycho House/ Amber trying to total Chase.

Loved House's comment to Cameron this week that she would soon be the second prettiest Dr. Chase in the hospital. I LOL'd.

    what an awesome image.

and she'd deliver a classic House line that will kill the mood for house.

*my god her ass is huge*

i really don't think it is though. In fact I think for her age she's got quite a nice bum.......................

anyone heard anything about how recent developments are going to play out?

I've also heard about the darkness for the finale, any ideas?

Watched Ep 23 online last night.

Oh my God is all I can say was amazing!

Promo's for season finale up on youtube, and looks like next week is going to be a cracker.

So annoyed that will have to wait for Season 6!

Interview with Hugh Laurie about season finale, he says something along the lines of House causes irreparable damage to one of his relationships!

Also says that House's circle of friends looks like its going to become 'a knot' so definitely losing people!

    And as for Wedding
don't think that's going to happen considering Chase told Cameron in Ep. 23 that he'll wait until she trusts him since she wanted his sperm as a pre-nup
