Well, got my first road bike 3 weeks ago (Trek 1.2). As i live in Killarney, Co. Kerry I am on the door step of some great scenery. It was a beautiful sunny day down here so a mate and I decided to go for a spin up Moll's Gap and then down the black valley and back towards Muckross again.

We did a total of 60km today and I must say I found it throughly enjoyable even though my legs felt they were on fire after reaching the top of the Gap:o. Previously we used to cycle out the main cork/kerry road which is very flat. After today's cycle I have now discovered that they key to building leg strength and training is to be doing more challenging roads with a few decent long climbs thrown in.

I am very much an amateur in comparison to many on here but I just wanted to share my experience and hopefully I will be ready for the ROK cycle in July:)

Hi - I will be moving down to your part of the world come the summer, and I will be on the lookout for some cycling company.

Maybe we could organise Kerry Boards spins.

Anyway, well done. Molls Gap from Killarney is a stunning cycle, and those hairpins into and out of Ladies View are seriously tough.

A Kerry boards spin would be a good day out!
Glad to hear that I am not the only one who found those hairpins tough:)

Not sure if i'd be up to your level of fitness but i'd def be up for a few spins in the summer.
