Bringing people to the Book of Kells

I know that I can get in to see the Book of Kells for free, because I am a student. Is it true though that I can bring visitors in for free, and if so how many can I bring? A girl I work with has a friend visiting from home, and she would love to bring her in to see it as the friend studies ancient literature or something (I know that is very vague, I can't actually remember what the friend studies!)

I think, and don't quote me on this, we can bring 4.. though that seems awfully high.. but it is definitely over 1..

You can bring two people with you in fro free. But I think the book might be away on loan at the moment.

    Yeah two is true.

    But really on loan!

I thought that after once before it was on loan and it got damaged that they said they would never give it out on loan again. Times must be tight to renege on those words...

I e-mailed them earlier this year:
You can bring in up to 3 guests on your current ID card. If you want to bring in more I can send you some tickets in the post if you give me a postal address.

    So the answer is 3

Its two. Who ever emailed you is incorrect. There's signs up at the entrance to the exhibit saying two. 3 In total can enter.

I brought 3 in about a month ago. But one of em was under 18, so maybe that made a difference. The feckin book wasn't there!

Maybe they changed it recently....I didn't see any signs when I went. But that was before Christmas.

The book is not on loan - but can be withdrawn for repair occasionally. You can bring in up to two guests to view the book at any one time.

Yep, I brought in my nephew and niece who were under a certain age, no idea what the age was.

I also emailed them and the reply was:

...on production of your current College ID you can bring in two guests on each visit to the Old Library.

Don't bother going to see the book. Just wait until it's made into a movie tbh.

But just torrent it, it's the most underwhelming book in existence, all the tourists are being seriously scammed!

It has. (College got some kind of licensing payout for that deal, so they push that film and its merchandise pretty heavily in the Library Shop.)

It's an animated film for kids called The Secret of Kells, i think it was released in cinemas back in March of this year and yea the gift shop was full of it's merchandise...don't know how successful it was though.
