anyone know whether theese machines are any good for feeding out bales of silage , do they chop the silage aswell as a diet feeder or do they just spit the silage out

they are much smaller than a diet feeder and therefore easier to access a shed with

    Hi,
I've never used a tomahawk but saw one at an auction recently and was mention that it was a straw only model, there appears to be a silage bale chopping/feeding version as well, it might be work checking out the teagle website for details.
Another machine that may be of interest , McHale made a silage bale chopper/feeder a few years back. It was a trailed thing around the size of a baler would pull the bale against a chopper unit and feed it out by conveyor to the left or right Have seen the odd one around at auctions and sales

Alexander mills usually have a few tomahawks in stock. Check out www.alexander-mills.co.uk

He's usually pretty expensive but carries quality second hand stock.

It will give you a guide on price anyway - even if it is on the high side.

I think the last one I saw made €800 it was at KM auctions in Tallow Co Waterford last year Trying to think of the model no. it had a typical McHale number something like 908 or something like that I never thought they had made such a thing till I saw one
