question about aerial signal degrading over long cable run

    Hi folks,

I have recently installed an aerial kit in my attic. Has 12db booster built in i think, and power supply. The attic is converted so have a tv up there, and the reception quality is great up there.
But on the tv's downstairs rte2 has degraded quite a bit. The other 3 have degraded a small bit, but nowhere near as much as rte2. Would putting the aerial outdoors instead of in the attic help with this? Is it to do with the signal being weak in the first place, or is it just degrading too much over the cable run to the downstairs tvs?
Aerial is aimed for 3 rock, but tv3 and tg4 are coming in crystal clear from Kippure.
I'm in ashbourne so I reckon clairmont carn would actually be a better bet for my signal, but whenever I try to receive it in the attic I don't seem to have much luck. Is it literally just a question of turning the aerial so the elements are pointing top to bottom, instead of left to right?

Thanks for any help you all may be able to give me,

    Kevin

meant to add that the aerial is connected to the rest of the house through a sky box, and then through a global f140 4 way box.

have the sky rf out set to channel 44, so its nowhere near channel 33 that rte2 is coming in on.

I would surmise that the boost out of the sky box is fairly weak and that another amp may be required there

have you tested the cable ( into a TV) where it enters the sky box to see what the sky box 'sees' ?

well the rf out from the sky box goes through the global f140, and the 2 closest tvs have very good picture, so its only really the longer cable runs that seem to be effected. and the picture from the sky box is crystal clear on all televisions, so it definitely seems to be something to do with the aerial signal rather than the sky box.
