'Party Down' is a new 10-episode comedy series which started on US station Starz last night (Friday).

It shows a lot of potential mainly due to the impressive cast and crew involved with it. For example:
    • The show was created by 'Veronica Mars' creator Rob Thomas'.
    • And along with that, it's pulled in numerous other ties from 'Veronica Mars' in it's cast. Ken Marino (Vinnie Van Lowe), Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas) both are cast regulars, while Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls) and Alona Tal (Meg Manning) all make guest appearances.
    • It has a fantastic comedy cast - with Jane Lynch (you'll know her when you see her from anything Apatow) and Martin Starr ('Freaks and Geeks' Bill Haverchuck), not to mention Lizzy Caplan (Cloverfield).
    • The writing staff includes John Enbom (wrote numerous episodes of 'Veronica Mars' and 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles'), Rob Thomas (creator and writer of numerous episodes of 'Veronica Mars' obviously) and Paul Rudd (from anything Apatow, and mostly recently written the excellent 'Role Models').
So, it does have a lot going for it. Especially for any 'Veronica Mars' fans.. but this is not 'Veronica Mars' - the writing and comedy is much more adult-orientated.

But I was very impressed with episode 1.. and am looking forward to more.

    er whats it about?
    Hmmm....

    ;)
"Party Down" follows a Los Angeles catering team - a sextet of Hollywood wannabes stuck working for tips while hoping for their "big break." Each episode of this half-hour comedy finds the hapless catering team working a new event - and inevitably getting tangled up with the colorful guests and their absurd lives.

its early days, but i liked it. you see and hear about quick little snapshots of the different characters personalities and day to day lives
we REALLY didnt need to see Enrico's penis :( my image of him as an awesome father/P.I. is forever tarnished :(

    the ending was good though.
    14 dollars ? ouchhh

I, for one, think it's great to see Ken Marino in a (somewhat) leading role.

Him and Ryan Hansen played probably the two best characters in VM.. and I've seen Ken Marino in nothing but supporting roles for the last year or two.
