Free postage on dvds on eBay?

I saw a dvd I wanted on eBay and contacted the seller to ask if he would send to Ireland and at what cost. He wrote back saying that postage for dvds is now free on eBay.

Is this true? Does it also apply to international transactions (like from UK to here). I see a lot of the Buy It Now's still have postage rates however...maybe the free postage only applies to normal auctions?

Postage is up to the seller, if he wants to send it for free, then that's his choice (and expense). I've bought a few DVDs from an Australian seller that offered free postage. Wasn't too sure about it at first, but they arrived (in about 3 weeks), so it was all good.

eBay itself does not govern postal costs, that's completely up to the seller. It may be that this seller also sells outside of eBay, but offers free postage on anything bought on eBay, as some sort of promotion perhaps.

Not true on ebay.co.uk, they have implemented hard caps on postage for all products but two (car parts and I can't remember the other) and for DVDs the seller have to offer free shipping for domestic (but can charge extra if you want it tracked etc.).

To OP, there was a 50% off charges campaign to get sellers to do this before the rule kicks in on DVD so it may very well apply for international (or Irish) for that DVD, esp. if shipped from HK.
