I'm training for a marathon at the moment and have been putting in more miles than I have previously. The last few months I find I creaking and cracking while I walk. Knees, ankles and sometimes my hip which is very very sore.

My ankle clicks an awful lot, so much so that my work colleagues joke they can hear me before they see me. The ankle clicking isn't sore but I was just wondering does anybody else suffer from anything similar ?

I'm not seeking medical advice here and will probably get it looked at shortly.

    Cheers

Yeah, the knee clicks quite loudly and actually hurts sometimes when it does so.

The ankle clicking has been going on for about 5 months though and is getting louder !

A friend of mine always clicked when running, since he was about 15/16 was great in races we could always hear him coming. Never seemed to cause him problems but good to get it checked.... i've never had the problem myself.

There is a guy in my triathlon club, a very good triathlete, who has a problem with a clicking ankle - not a problem, never had any difficultly with it, just that it does click when walking/running.

Both of my knees click, any time ive asked a medical type (physios, doctors, surgeons, even personnel trainers) about it they all say unless it hurts dont worry about it.

Do you take cod liver oil or Flaxseed, that always helps me.

I wonder if some yoga stretches would work, there are some great ones for the ankles and knees, it might just loosen them up a bit.
Here's a link to one of them http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/490 if thats too hard, just roll up a towel and sit on it to raise you off the floor a little.
