Sorry if this is the wrong board, might be more appropriate in the literature section, but since it's a web-publishing tool it kinda fits here.

    It's: http://www.1000000monkeys.com

The basic idea is it lets people collaborate on a story very easily. Stories are divided into trees, composed of small snippets (<300 words). At each snippet there is room for 3 branches, and anyone can add a branch.

It's rather cool, I think, as it lets people write stories within stories. Like you could take a nice story, find an open branch and take it in a completely new direction (different characters, different plots entirely).

If a branch is crap, gets a low rating or doesn't inspire many shoots then it dies. So, as the site puts it, only the strongest stories survive.

Has anyone else heard of this? I signed up yesterday and started a branch today: http://www.1000000monkeys.com/snippet.html?branch=14439

You can 'climb down' to see what happened before it, or before reading :P

What do you think of the site? Why not sign up and give my branch some bananas! :P

Also can use this thread to share, discuss what you've posted there I suppose.

I wrote a few Nonnets, they're poems that have 9 lines, first with 9 syllables, then 8,7,6...

    It's a neat style of poem :)

Here they are anyways, would love to know what people think:

Nonnet written while trying to write a Nonnet:

Nonnets are too bloody hard to write.
All of my attempts seem so trite!
How the hell am I supposed
to fit in a rhyme scheme,
    in the space proposed?!
    (Frustrated SCREAM!!!)
    Head hits desk,
    'f*cking
    sh*te!'

    Totally cheesy robin poem:
Red breast of robin framed in snow's white,
    Flashing fire as she skitters,
    Hither-and-thithering with
    fleet flittering movements.
    Her neck twists sideways,
    wings spread skyways.
    Takes to flight
    leaving
    me.

    Buttery Butt Lips:
Buttery butt lips words on he's slips
    steps on he's trips and tit-flops o'er,
    but! Buttery butt lips' lips
    but ne'er drooping do frown.
    Hips his sway this as
    his lips slip 'Butt
    good learned play
    magic
    pipe'

    My Nonnet branch: http://www.1000000monkeys.com/snippet.html?branch=14465&climb=down

Let me know what you think. You should check out the site, it's a pretty cool thang.

Well... this style of writing really inspired me :P I'm now in love with haiku. I've taken to sauntering about Dublin writing haiku on the streets in chalk. Here's a haiku about it:

"Chalku - poetry for the people"
    It seemed so simple:
Write on the streets with some chalk.
    Why don't you all too?

Let me know if you see some! ^_^
