think they still do but will take a while and lidl have universal remotes for 6 quid...would be a quicker option...

will a universal remote work for the standard digital box?

Which one? First you need to establish if your box is NTL, Chorus, or UPC. I'm guessing by the title of the thread that its' probably NTL, but it might be UPC - you'll know from the predominant colour of your EPG (if its' purple, you've an NTL box, if its blue, its UPC. If its green, you've got Chorus).

If you've a UPC box, you'll also have to know whether it is a Pace or Thomson. PVRs are Thomson, the non-PVR UPC boxes are Pace. All NTL boxes are Pace. All Chorus boxes are Sagem.

Next step is to try to find a remote that works with this. I belive One For All remotes support some NTL Pace boxes. If you have a Di4000 or Di4010 you might be able to find something. The Di300i uses the same remote control codes (even though it has a different smaller remote, the two are interchangable) so if you can find a remote supporting the two earlier ones then you should be grand. Not sure about the Pace DC621KU (UPC Mediabox), but if you can't find something supporting it here you might be able to import something from Holland where UPC use these boxes also.

If you've a Chorus Sagem box, good luck finding something to support that. Trying to get a replacement remote might be a better idea.

EDIT: According a poster in another thread, One For All remotes should work with UPC Thomson PVRs with a code of 1582 ...

cheers for the helpful info...its a silver NTL box (pace one) which I've had for years...I have ordered a remote one today but will be a few days getting here...have a one for all lying around somewhere and if I can find it...I'll see if that will work as a stopgap..

by the way they charge 25 for the remote but will credit my account 25 when I send the old one in..

I still have one at home if you do need it - I "upgraded" to the DVR a few months back but they didn't want the little remote back - just the little box!
