will be forgotten about in 2 or 3 generations time.

never to be heard of again.

are humans within their life span the worst thing to ever happen this planet?

why are people so arrogant to think we are put here by an all seeing/ all knowing God?

How can you Guarantee everyone will be forgotten? What if Terry goes on a Killing Spree. What if someone join's the Military, pulls a Jack Churchill and Bring a Bow and Arrow and A broadsword to a Gun fight. (In World War 2 this happened. He captured 42 German's using only a sword. All at once!!!!)

My point is, not everyone will be forgotten, someone could get famous.

Someone said when you have lived a hundred years, you have lived a long time but when you have been dead for a hundred years you have only begun to be dead. Any idea who that was?

What person has been remembered the longest do you think? I mean if one of ancient Greek legends say was actually a real person they have been remembered for a hell of a long time.

how long have humans inhabited the earth?

not long in the grand scheme of things.

are we so arrogant to think we are the end all and be all of all creation?

    not likely,

we have done more than anything before us to accelerate the destruction of the planet we live on.

and people think we are created by a God? :D

nothing you think or say will have a bearing in the the future,

all those thoughts and day to day worries don't mean jack

the sun will eventually burn out and everyone thinks they will be remembered.

    suckers.

other kickass mofos who'll live on in kickass-ness.

but im not fussed. ive moved 13,000 miles from home, and my mates all remember me. i'd rather live for the present.

as for the arrogance re god.. i think originally, people figured out this god thing, as a way of trying to figure out how they got to be here at all. and, to many people, it surely did seem that they were the centre of the universe...

im making absolutely no excuses for modern-day people though...

You sound like Tommy Tiernan when he was on father Ted. Too much "My Chemical Romance" and checkered belts i suspect.

Also i think that the way you perceive life is truly unique and may get you remembered forever. Write to the Irish Times , sign it "tear soaked forget me not".

Yes, but if you count it in terms of scumbag-generations that number goes as high as 5 or 6.

No, but most people are arrogant enough to think that being remembered is something important in the first place. Genetically, those that manage to have kids will be remembered, whether they're highly important people or nobodies. That's all that really matters

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,476 ✭✭✭Mr.Lizard

    That's all that really matters
Maybe to you it is. I'd rather be remembered for some momumental achievement, scientific breakthru or great invention than I would to be remembered 'genetically' simply for shooting another couple of hateful little humans into the world.

Jesus has been really well remembered, He died in AD33. Roman rulers are remembered and date back for donkeys' years. Caligula-the crazy fcuker died in AD41.

You cant walk down a street in town without someone saying "Jaysus Wasnt Hilter a ****er".

Remember OP I find that if you wear bandages on your arms and short sleve shirts it has the same effect of letting everone know you secretly cut "God is Dead" into your arms to take away the pain ....... (even if you dont)

Nah, in 600 years time, there mightn't even be a Japan any more, so it stands to reason that what I'm going to be remembered for is that I'm an absolute dick of epic proportions.

Damn, Simo Hayha - my type of guy. Way to go!

As for Yogendra Singh Yadav and Jack Churchill - christ - they'd make Rambo crap in his pants lol

And Audie Murphy - I keep telling people "NEVER judge a book by its size"
He is a classic example of that. What a guy!

Has Caesar been forgotten? Has Ghandi? Napoleon? Ghengis Khan? Einstein? Madame Curie? the list is endless.

If you want to accept a life that will be forgotten, thats your business but its by no means set in stone for any of us. Its not easy to make a mark on society such that you will be remembered, but its not impossible either.

Limit yourself if you like, I dont much fancy it....

    Speak for yourself.

In 5000 years my name will be spoken with humbled awe as the man who ruled the world. The funniest thing is, all i have to do to is come into a reasonable amount of money, buy some land in Siberia, bring in some slaves to build my giant tomb and then inscribe the walls with tales of my awesome armies crushing those who would stand against me.

After the fall of civilization i will be worshipped as a God.

Years from now someone will write a book about you and Boards etc. called Judging DeV.

P.S. Caesar and Napoleon will never be forgotten. They invented a great salad and ice-cream respectively.

There is at least two decades of my life that I wish I could forget about.

    Here is what I learned:
*DO NOT PROCREATE (if you haven't already)
*CONSUME SOME FORM OF HALLUCINOGENS ANNUALLY (never anally)
    *LISTEN TO MUSIC DAILY
*WATCH THE SUNRISE & SUNSET (as often as possible)
    *LISTEN MORE & TALK LESS
*SELF-CONFIDENCE IS THE MOST ATTRACTIVE QUALITY (in both sexes)
    *HAVE LOTS OF SEX
*WOMEN ARE EVIL (learn to enjoy it)

    ..in no particular order

Iv a plan to be remembered forever. Im going to assemble an army in the south of Spain that includes elephants. Then march it over the alps and inflict some defeats on the Italians. I just hope i don't get confused for that "Hannibal" guy.

Speaking of elephants, even if people forget about you the elephants won't. Apparently they never forget.
