Biffy return to the live circuit tonight here in Perth for their first gig of 2009, and the band have confirmed that they will be playing some material that will be on their upcoming album.

No release date for the record yet but recording is to take place in april.

Have to say I'm very excited about seeing them!

Haha was there thanks to an extra ticket from Xavi. Wow was amazing, right up the front. Think he got a pic of the setlist.

Was a great gig. So tight. Wouldnt be familiar with the first album but damn it was so good. Ears are still ringing

    Cheers Xavi

simon is such a joy to photograph on stage, he's so energetic check out this i found on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/delineated/1364542556/ would love to cover a gig of theirs.

i'm liking the new album title allbeit's a working title, but so was puzzle (well it was puzzled communication).

come on biffy, get back to your weird, wonderful and down right wacky selfs please :)

*EDIT* also is it sad that i know what song they are playing just from that photo writetojd posted?

Re: New songs - we were horribly lied to. Simon said in the local press this week that they would be playing new material but we got sweet FA. Still a really great set though.
    1. Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies
    2. Who's Got A Match
    3. A Whole Child Ago
    4. Get Fucked Stud
    5. Joy. Discovery. Invention.
    6. The Ideal Height
    7. 9/15ths
    8. Semi-Mental
    9. Convex, Concave
    10. Machines
    11. Glitter & Trauma
    12. Justboy
    13. Love Has A Diameter
    14. Now I'm Everyone
    15. Mountains

    16. Now The Action Is On Fire!
    17. 57

Simon made a balls of it as '57' was supposed to open the encore and they had a bit of a laugh when he started playing 'Now The Action...' but they just went with it. Worked out better imo.

Tiny little venue with no more than 300 people in it so was right on top of the band basically. Here's a few photos -

The fact that it's still a very Puzzle filled setlist is kind of irritating. Nice photos though. I love seeing Biffy in venues that are tiny.

    now the action... :(

you lucky ****s, what i'd give to hear that at a biffy gig again.

of course it was going to be a puzzle heavy set, puzzle sold more copies than the first 3 albums combined, it's more known, yes i'd love for biffy to be knocking out the toys toys toys or the kill the old torture their young every set but it's not going to happen :(. all we can do is pray that the new songs are good :)

On further reflection they didn't actually play it, even though it was on the setlist. They actually played 'As Dust Dances' as the opener of the encore.

Here's the pic I got of the setlist -

nice video of machines, although i don't like how they play it live, they need ben on vocals, he's amazing on backup vocals :)

Creamy, they actually played "Now The Action..." very recently to an Irish audience :)

looking forward immensely to the new album, half of Puzzle was ****e but I do love Mountains. Any word on Marmaduke Duke yet?

i haven't been to a biffy gig in so long for a number of reasons.

marmaduke duke has a new single coming out on april 20th with the album dropping on the 4th of may.

i haven't looked forward to an album like Duke Pandemonium in soo long.

i'd love for the duke to play here, would give me a reason to wear my cape, top hat and brandish a plastic rapier in public :D, having looked at some flickr shots of recent duke gigs they just look immense.

like look at these, and if you look at them and say you don't want to be there, then you need to get the fudge out :P

Nicely done. That's much the same set they played at their Dublin gig back in December. Great gig, amazing band to see live, such energy :)
