    Boyfriend was let go today...
Wht will he be entitled to from Social? We have a house together last three years so will the mortgage and my wages also be taken into consideration when he is claiming?
Are there any other entitlements we should know about?
    Thanks

Was he in regular employment for the past year or more? So paying full PRSI?
If so, full Job seekers benefit of 207 per week
I think 207 euro is the rate, around that anyway

If no, then there is means test for job seekers allowance involved. And yes, your earnings will be taken into account.

There is a mortgage interest supplement scheme where you can get contributions to mortgage interest.

Do your partner have payment protections or some other form of insurance for the mortgage? Something to check

Don't delay, go visit the local office first thing Monday. And get there early to avoid the queues :)

He was in employment for five years and we do have mortgage protection so will definitely look into that.

Dont forget claiming his tax back for this year. Get him to fill out a P50 form which is available on the Revenue website and submit it in with parts two and three of his P45. He must wait four weeks from date of cessation before submitting the form. :)

No prob JoeyW. He is to make a claim every four weeks until he receives the total amount of tax back that he is due. :)

No, ring Revenue and ask them to do a review for 2008. They will be able to do it over the phone for you and be able to tell you the amount due back. They should have your pay and tax detials on file, if not they will request you to send in your P45. So get ringing! :)
