    Hi all,
Hoping i can get some help here, i am trying to identify a material that is lightweight, flexible and strong/tough. it can be any material eg steel, plastic, rubber but must have the properties i mentioned already.
I was thinking of something like a tightly woven steel wire mesh but thought this may be really heavy as the intended surface area will be large (max 2m x 2m), then i though a wire mesh not so tightly woven cover in some sort of polymer. Anyway thats where i got stuck cant really imaging that being any lighter. But what would the equivilant of titainium be in the world of plastics or polymers? anyway if anyone has asy ideas would be a great help.
    Thanks

how flexble are these as materials? for example could you roll these up ? would they be similar to blanket for want of a better description? and how would they react to a, small point load of lets say 100kg would they tear? also i expect kevlar and carbon fibre are extremely expensive.
    anyway thanks for reply.

When you say material do you mean fabric?

What do you need it for? If we had a better idea of what the material was to do, we could probably give more helpful suggestions.
