Does anybody know of anywhere offerring good student accommodation? Apparently Chubb properties offer some, and I've heard of at least one student staying up at Marino. Any ideas?

Chubb in Harcourt St and Fitzwilliam is extraordinarily dear, unless sharing bedrooms between several of you

You might be better off getting a room/apartment in or around the city centre. Rent prices have fallen significantly, and it's a buyers market. Have a look on daft.ie

Do you know Dublin? Are you a current or prospective student?
If you're the latter, trinity halls (college accommodation) in Dartry might be worth applying for.

Says in the email about campus/halls accommodation that: "Applications for residential rooms from continuing students for the next academic year have a revised closing date of Sunday 22nd March. If you wish to apply for rooms you must make an application before this date."

Does that mean tonight at midnight is the deadline?

I'm in first year at the moment, going into second year. I have been living in Griffith COllege, which isn't great (except for the freinds I've made!)

I don't think I'll bother with halls next year, since apparently if you aren't a first year you don't stand a chance.

Does anyone know what Chubb Herberton is like? One of my freinds got offerred a place at a Chubb accommodation, but it turned out to be in a really dogy area, I'm wondering if that was it, cause otherwise it looks quite good...

Living at home atm, moving out next year for final year, but from talking to friends who live in Dublin, daft.ie is the place to look online and the northside or Rathmines kinda area tend to be cheaper than southside. Apparently NCI's accomaodation is cheapish (like 110 a week or someth) BUT the ESB meter thangs cost an absolute bomb. If you're looking to share a room you'll prob save more and if you have friends to share with go to viewings together so if you like the place you can take it straight away.

NCI, like Chubb, is expensive (if a bit less so than Chubb, but not as good either)... It is dearer than College rooms, far dearer than private, and especially expensive if you don't move in 1st September or out on 26th June (if you were to use it for the full period, then maybe ok). Also smallish, and extras.

Yeah, I heard the hot water runs our suuuuper quick too, and something about the walls being paper thin....;)

Get yourself up to Drumcondra or Phibsbora. Not terrible areas, a lot of students about, rent for a big single room can be 400 euro a month. Definately the best rate going around town and only a half hour walk from Trinity max.

I know some people who live up in Drumcondra, so that might be a good place to start. Or else maybe round Rathmines/Portobello??

everyone tells me now is the time to 'start looking' for next year's accommodation but realistically, are people putting down deposits or what now, which I presume is the only way you could guarantee a landlord would hold something for you until the academic year starts. I just find it hard to believe any landlord would leave a house vacant for the guts of 6 months on the assumption a group will move in in September.

Sorry, really had to give a big hearty LOL for that one! Of course you don't start looking now! Live a little, leave it till August. Its a renters market at the moment anyway. Pay anything more that 420 a month for your own room in a 30 minute walking radius from Trinity then your a mug. Rent really has dropped significantly since my first year in college.

    Hi guys.

I'm trying to find someone to sublet my room for the summer. Its a reasonably sized room with a comfortable double bed, draws, shelves and a wardrobe. There is also a small desk (but that can be removed if you'd rather have the extra space). It also has a huge window over looking lower Rathmines Road, so lots of natural light. The apartment is right next to Portabello Bridge above the Spar on the right hand side of the road as you walk away from town. It's a 15 min walk into the city centre/trinity, and if you're feeling lazy its a 5 min walk to the Luas stop.

The rent is just 450 a month for the room (not including quarterly bills). The apartment itself has two floors (it's an attic conversion) and has two other rooms upstairs (don't know if my flatmates are subletting yet, one possibly is, so there may be another room available soon). My bedroom is downstairs in the apartment, and attaches to the living room.

The living space/kitchen is bright and airy (again, two large windows) pleanty of storage space and a large sofa. There is also a television (already licenced) + DVD player and internet access in the living room (prince not included, but split between 3 people it's cheap enough).

I'll be looking to sublet from the middle of June until we go back to college in September. Perfect for anyone who wants to stay in Dublin for the summer.

    Let me know.
