    Ok,
been thinking of getting a new vocal mic for live work.
I know we had the SM58 V's E835 debate on here as well..!

But what does anyone out there think of the E840,or it it the general feeling that the SM58 (or Beta)is the only show in town?

So,in short has anyone had any experience of both mic's?

    Thanks..IM

It will depend to an extent on your voice but I have found the shures are far superior to any of the evolution series. If you can stretch to it try out a beta 87, its a fantastic stage condenser, I've been using one for a few years now and its been worth every penny.

It does depend on preference and your voice though. Some mics to try are the 58, or a beta 57, and I've heard good things about audix om series, although not sure who stocks them in Ireland.

For the same money as a 58 you might consider the AKG D5. Its a great mic for the money.
