Waht is the procedure for acquiring a gaming club licence here in Ireland. A close friend is in the process of converting a snooker hall into a poker and casino hall and he wants to know how he should go about acquiring a permit to run a members club. Any information would be appreciated.

Sorry to hijack but can any pub tourney organisers let me know of any legislation around running pub games? Is it just a case of sorting it out with the pub, advertising details of it, and providing chips, table-tops, cards etc?

Is there a law that states that cash can't be passed around the tables? As long as the entry fee is collected beforehand, is everything cool as kats?

    Thanks in advance.

Government announced fairly recently that they're planning on proceeding with legislation to regulate the casino sector (including i would guess, the running of poker tournaments etc in venue's that may not be 'casinos' under the Act).

Its no surprise, as once regulated, casinos will be a good source of tax income which is badly needed at the minute.

that mean we'll be paying a bigger rake then?
