    One for the Dubs.
Does anyone ever use the bike-park Irish Rail provide at Heuston station. It has no real security at it. Is it any safer than say leaving your bike locked on a quiet street.
I'm thinking about using it tonight but I'm not sure.
    Any advice woudl be appreciated.

i've never locked a bike overnight at heuston, but i know people who have had their bikes stolen from there. i'm not sure whether they used the spot you are talking about, but anytime i have to leave my bike in town overnight, i use the bike rack outside pearse street garda station. it hasn't let me down yet!

I'm the same as alritelad, i have left my bike in town locked at pearse street and have had no problems yet (touches wood) you might think bout leaving it somewhere better in city centre then luasing it out

I've used that facility pretty much constantly for the last five or so years. My bike was stolen once. That said, I wouldn't be leaving anything fancy there - my bike is deliberately down-trodden and scratched!

I would say that the facility is marginally safer than on the streets, certainly if you need to leave it overnight. The station car-park access closes overnight, the area is well-lit at night and is situated about 300m away from the exit to the street.

I sold a bike to a guy who commutes by train from Kildare each day, and cycles from Hueston to his office in town. He leaves his bike locked in Hueston overnight. Once the bike isn't something that attracts loads of attention, I'd say you'd be allright.
