I wanted to check if there is anyone fom the Midland area and specifically from around Tullamore or who would know that part of the country. A few of us are heading down there for a spin and planning to take in the cut and the wolf trap. I know that from Tullamore you head for Kinnity and then take a left for Clonaslee but after that I'm not sure.

If anyone can through some light on this for me, I would appreciate it.

Are you leaving from tullamore and heading to the mountains?

so head out the Mount Mellick road, after about 5-7 km you see a tyre garage Condron tyres, take a right at the sign for clonaslee. Just before you arrive in clonaslee take a left and you begin climbing the cut. its about 8km to the top . and about 8k descent. When you get to t junction at the bottom of the cut take a right and you pass through a small village killenure after that you begin climbing the wolfe trap. when you decent the wolfe trap you arrive in kinnity. you can take a right in kinnity and you end up back in clonaslee or you can go back over the mountains again,

eagle is pretty much right except ye need to go into village of clonaslee and then turn left go out past the school and then turn right up the cut also when you come down off the wolftrap there is a y in the road keep left to go into kinnity or right brings you out directly onto kinnity clonaslee road if a shortcut is needed at that stage not a lot in it though. Enjoy its a tough but enjoyable spin. By the way for a longer spin head from kinnity to birr and then
    main road back into tullamore.

PLanning to go down next weekend, drive to Tullamore and head from there. By the way, say if you do the 2 climbs and then just turn around and come back the same way, what kind of distance is it ?

Sure if you're driving down to Tullamore and its not Sunday or Monday drop in to Seamus in Buckleys Cycles and he'll set you right...He's on Bury Quay which you could find by looking at our website and viewing the map on the 'contact us' page...I've been meaning to get some maps up there from my garmin but just haven't gotten around to it yet..

    Cheers

he route i suggested is about 70km i reckon, i usually start from Birr, Tullamore is too busy with traffic etc.

Or as BaBiT suggested Seamie Buckley in Buckley cyles in tullamore will give you all info needed.
