Meteor - GSM?

Hello there
I've been looking to buy a phone on eBay as a gift. It's the LG KS360. Seems like a good phone, nice QWERTY keyboard, perfect for texting and emailing and whatnot.

From the eBay page:
Non-UK Network Compatibility
All GSM 900/1800/1900 Networks
If unsure, just call your network and ask which GSM band they operate on.

I'm not too worried about this at all as I found out that 80% of the planet uses GSM but the person I'm buying it for wants me to be 100% sure it will work so I dont waste my money. Even after calling meteor they didnt have any idea which their network operated on :P
Can anyone tell me?

It will work on Meteor, but the fact that they say it's Non-UK compatibility probably means it's been reported as lost/ stolen in the UK

The LG KS360 is a GSM tri-band handset and as Meteor uses both GSM 900 and 1800 bands, the handset will work 100% on the Meteor network.

but ive had so many problems with unlocking phones, even going into these unlock stores and paying money only to find it doesnt work. tried to do it myself too, never seems to work so im gonna stay clear of it :P
