Doesnt a TV licence apply to a residence only? Hence why mobile phones dont need them. Interesting point though. Id love to watch 'porn to drive to' or even 'debbie does Datsun'.

You actually don't have to pay for a tv licence for a car. Because they have no fixed abode y'see AFAIK. Could be wrong but I sound convincing.

I think changes are pending on TV cards and the like.
Jesus. I am starting to sound like a TV inspector.
    Stung us the other week.
They came to the door and left a note. Little tick box ticked with "TV apparatus observed." or some such
    Fecking curtains were closed.
    Peeping bastard.

From what I know its only premises that are covered by a TV license so a car wouldn't count.

Every household, business or institution in Ireland with a television or equipment capable of receiving a television signal (using an aerial, satellite dish, cable or other means) must have a television licence. A television licence is a certificate that states that you have paid the appropriate fee to the government and contributed to the cost of public service broadcasting in Ireland. Your television licence in Ireland is issued for 1 year, after which it must be renewed again.

Youd have to attached your dish or aerial to your car aswell, considering the devaluation your car will recieve its probably cheaper to pay the license!

Those in-car TVs will be quite handy when the owners get evicted from their negative-equity houses and have to live in their 4 wheel-drives - The poor man's Winnebago.

Indeed it does. But I believe that your mobile home / caravan has to be capable of being towed from one place to another to be exempt, similarly cars. For example if you own a permanent site in which you house a mobile home that is not moved you would have to pay another TV licence AFAIR.
This is all a vague memory of a number of similar questions asked a few months ago on The Last Word.

If you're streaming it from the net or something like that you don't but if you have a tv card you do.
