ok, so i met this guy we swapped numbers. he also happens to be in my college. he sent the nicest texts, compliments etc.
however this goes on for ages without mentioning meeting up. then when i did say it to him, that it was weird he was texting really nice things all the time but not wanting to meet up he tells me "things are up in the air", which basically i took as he's not interested. but then he continued to text, can someone shed light on that for me??

It most likely means that somthing he has started with someone in the past hasn't finished

    Or

He is confused at the moment and possibly caught bewteen a rock and a hard place..

    Or

    he is broke

This surely should be in the PI forum or relationships forum no?

things are up in the air just means theres to much going on at the moment. Just like juggling. He is in collage and probably flat broke so in that way if he adds another ball(juggling reference) he might drop em all and be fecked.

Things being up in the air could mean there's someone else that things are still iffy with.
Or that he's so busy he doesn't know if he'd have time for dating. He perhaps likes you but right now things don't really suit.

I dont think he is using the phrase right. Why not just say at the next oppertunity. What does things are up in the air mean?

Sounds to me like he already has a 'special' friend, possibly going through a break-up and he's laying the foundations for his next folly

    +1

almost def recently broken up or genuinely planning on breaking up.

remember we're simple if he's complimenting you he likes you, if he says to you " things are up in the air" it means he's stressed about something else.

agreed! Either that or he has a gf (at home? or away) and he's not to sure where that's going.

Just don't do the horizontal shuffle with him until everything has fallen from the air.

    You were right.

He doesn't fancy you enough to give you a straight answer.

If you are really interested in a full on relationship with this guy, then move on and save yourself a bit of heartache.

    However.

If you are up for a bit of non-committal sexy time, this guy would be perfect for that.

Listen we are men, if we are really interested in someone then whatever was up in the air we would find a way of getting it out of the air. Isnt this true for women as well, if you were really interested in a guy you would find a way and if you werent too sure you would say something like "its just bad timing" or some other spurious line.

He basically has someone else he may be interested in more than you and he wants to see how that goes or he would like to have sex with you but there are other people he would also like to have sex with also....NEXT!

ok thanks for all your advice, it's been very helpful.

I've avoided the horizontal shuffle lol!
i've also been avoiding the object of my confusion!
