My Jobseekers Benefit coming to an end?

Hi, I got a letter today from the social welfare stating that certain changes to the JSA were made in the 2009 budget. One of these changes reduces the number of days for which the benefit is paid.
It says "If you have less than 260 PRSI contributions paid since you started working, benefit is limited to 9 months (234 days)

If you have 260 or more PRSI contributions paid since you started working, benefit is limited to 312 days (12 months)

Our records show that you have paid 0172 PRSI contributions and therefore your JSA will end soon."

The letter says that if I want to make another claim for JSA, I need to complete a form and contact my local office.

Since I have not worked within the last 10 months, Is it not clear that I will no longer qualify already, seen as I am being cut off now?

You can no longer claim jobseekers benefit - as this benefit has expired.
however complete the form and send it back - you can still claim jobseekers allowance which is means tested

Thanks for the replies. Can you please tell me what is the difference between job seeker's benefit, and job seeker's allowance?

Job seekers benefit is based on PRSI contributions.

Eventually this ends as you have seen. You can reapply for Job seekers allowance. It's for people with not enough PRSI contributions.
It's the exact same rate, no difference money wise.

But it is means tested and you are most likely going to have to do an interview with an inspector.
Expect to be asked about your savings and what job searches you have been doing for the past 10 months.

So if you have letters of rejection from businesses, maybe get them organized as well as bank statements.
All straightforward, you'll be fine. :)
Maybe you won't have to do an interview but don't be surprised if you do

I got that letter too. Until what age do they access you on your parents wages?
