I got a present of a track day from my wife for my birthday recently.
Its for a Ferrari 430 & Lamborghini Gallardo at Bruntingthorpe in the UK.
    Just a few questions...
Has anyone been on one of these track days? Are they as good as they sound?....please say yes ;)
Anyone been to bruntingthorpe/is it a good track?
Are the cars are limited in some way?
    Can't wait :)

Pretty simple as track layouts go. Nothing too technical. A couple of double apex corners which should be easy enough to master and a decent straight to get through the gears on. Should be a giggle. Here's a link to the track details: http://www.trackdays.co.uk/tracks/bruntingthorpe.htm
    Enjoy

I did a track day last month in Prestwold hall, got it for xmas from my gf :)

I assume its pretty much the same thing, its done by Everyman motor racing. I drove a Gallardo, 575, Vantage V8 and 911. Euro 4 challenge its called.

Its great fun, the instructors try and get you to brake appropriately etc and keep a good line. They also tell you though when to change gear etc so you cant exactly rev the balls out of the car, which is fair enough considering how much they are worth etc.

I got up to about 120mph on that track in the 911, I was in that last so Im sure if I had the lambo last I could of gone faster when I was used to the track etc, Id imagine you'd be talking similar speeds for your day.

The piece of advice I would give is dont be afraid to brake late etc, I was cautious for the first few laps but once they see your out for fast laps they encourage it!

I've done Bruntingthorpe track days about a half dozen times.

It's an airfield and vehicle testing ground just south of Leicester. It's safe, and has plenty of run off areas. The surface is pretty hard on tyres.

    It's fine for a novice.

    Thanks for the advice lads.
The track looks like its made for speed cough*novices*cough with all that run off. I've seen a few vids on youtube now.....good idea lightning :)

:) She got it for me as she says I'm impossible to buy for as I have everything I want.....i.e. I usually get it myself as soon as I want it ;)
I've always said the only thing I really want is a Ferrari or a Lambo. So she did the next best thing :)

I did the one in Thruxton last year - same sort of idea. I had the package to get shown the track in a Mazda 3 MPS, then do a few laps in a Cayman, followed by 4 or 5 laps in a Ferrari F430 and finally 5 laps in an LP640. It was fantastic and while you are shown the best lines etc you do get to floor it on several parts of the track. The guy that actually owned the LP640 was in the car with me for my laps and once we got on the straight he was urging me on to keep it floored. Well worth doing altho it is over all too quick - 2 hours most if it all goes on schedule

have a look here for some pics
