Can anyone tell me any websites where I can get new springs or parts for my steyr?

Try the likes of rsov, ebairsoft and ehobbyasia, they should have what you're looking for.

As far as i know they use a unique spring to that gun and ive never come across anywhere that was selling them. what sort if FPS are ya getting?

right now I'm only getting 250-260 fps. Well if it's a unique spring I guess I'll just have to make due with what I've got. Thanks for the replies!:)

If you are unable to find a spring (I never bothered looking) you can shim the stock spring in the cylinder. I done this and it worked a treat. The internal parts are pretty robust. The only thing is be carefull how much shim you use, a little = a lot (fps). It did for me anyway anyway the ssg is very easy to strip and ajust.
Use washers with the same internal diameter as the piston. The main prob with the steyr is the hopup is terrible, it might be worth replacing.

Appartently the Steyr SSG has VSR internals.

Not that I remember. The only other rifle I've seen with VSR compatible parts is the BAR10.

Yeah I'm not sure about it, hence the apparently. Someone on an english airsoft forum said he had VSR parts in his SSG.

So I've been thinking of popping mine open and seeing if VSR parts match by looking at them online if they do I'll try some and see how it goes. If they clearly don't match then theres obviously no point.

Getting one of these soon myself.

That washer idea is good, I've done it to aegs etc. but finding ones with a large inner diameter and not too big for the piston outer diameter is quite hard.

At least I found it so, maybe the spring guide is more forgiving than the aeg ones I'm used to.

The hop is interesting, so its kinda crap is it? I managed to stick an aeg hop in a bell m10 so I'm not too worried, but if I should replace it I'd like to know, thanks.

Yea finding a washer to fit is not easy what I used was the lid of a tube of Locktite. If you cut the very top of it off (you only need a cuple of mm) it fits perfectly into the piston.
With regards to the hopup, im going to try and fix this today by putting some gaffer tap on the nub to make it more sensitive which should fix it. I have my old barrel from my TM m14 which Im going to try and fit it in, ill have to cut new grooves into it and its prob way to long, ill have to mock up some sort of barrel mod/silencer to hide it.

I just used a piece of plastic tubing that I cut to the length I wanted. And I replaced the hop-up bucking with a guarder silicon hop-up.

Is the hop aeg hop compatible then?

I can mod a hop rubber to fit, but if its already done thats a plus.

You have to mod it slightly. All you do is cut a bit off the end, as theres groves in the barrel where it slots into the hop up unit. Thats it and your done.
