Toyota Yaris replacement locks ignition

    Hi All,

My wife's sister, the proud owner of her first car, a 1999 Gold (ish) Yaris ("the Yellow Submarine") has lost both sets of keys to it.

Dealers are quoting between 1100 and 1400 to provide replacements, I presume that locks, ignition barrel etc. have to be replaced.

Would anyone know if there's a cheaper way of doing this? The car probably isn't even worth 1400 not to mind 1100!

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Some insurance companies will cover this under the policy.

Can't a decent locksmith cut a key to suit? I was under the impression they can

Problem is she's lost all the keys, so they've nothing to copy. Can a locksmith make a key from the lock in some way?
