I love the look of the 06 civic in Red, but not keen on the back window especially when you use your rear view mirror alot:D

Drove the Jazz, liked the feel of it, very solid, but it felt 'didntgivemesatisfactionkindoffeeling' iykwim:(

    suggestions anyone?

(This coming from a Skoda Octavia driver:p)

Two different class of cars TBH. The Jazz is a funky number and if you are using it as a primarily short hop, occasional long run, then it'd be the one to go for, though get the 1.4 if you can afford it, the 1.2 while frugal isn't certainly going to set you alight - and I know what you mean :)

What didn't the Jazz do for you?

That model Jazz is looking a bit dated now (around since 2001) especially next to the newer Civic. Civic would also have more creature comforts than the Jazz.

:D Its oldish looking for a 06, nothing fancy about it, compared to the Civic which I have since this morning, decided to test drive this afternoon.
    WOW is all I can say:D:D What a lovely drive I had:pac:

When I went back to show the kids what I was thinking of they just said 'awful', and out of the red and dark blue civic they picked the blue, so off we went for a spin!

Wont be needing those, and I hate the look of them on the red Civic, and opted for the darker blue civic with fog lights instead which was a 1200 cheaper for some reason, and same specs as far as I know.....

All will be known tomorrow when the guy from finance rings me with a quote. Unfortunately theyre not offering me great money for mine, but will stay optimistic:D

    Heres link to it...http://cars.motornet.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=1342970

(I've seen better offers on Motornet, but wont tell the dealer just yet, nor have I told him about my poor Skoda's problems ie missing converter, leaking in water ahum ahum:o:pac:)

Are you conceding that it's blobby, then?

Not one bit, its a beauty (compared to the Skoda that is!!:D). Will take some getting used to, (height of the bonnet - can't see the road going up these mountain ways:rolleyes:) but 100% better than what I have:D:D

1.4 Jazz and 1.4 Civic have the same engine.
1.2 Jazz has the same engine, just stroked differently and is 0.1L smaller. Not a lot.

Nice car. Very economical. Well wear.

I'd definitely go for the Civic. Not sure about the 1.4L version but the 1.8 is perky enough (140 BHP, 0-100 kph 8.2 secs). The ride is a bit hard and there have been a few minor issues with the early models (such as the fuel filler cap opener needing adjustment) but very well equipped. Trade in down the line should be good too (all things considered in the current market :().

    The Civic? or Both?

If the red one in the same garage is the navy one the price difference is due to mileage!!! The red one might be a better buy if you can haggle the price difference down...and you could ask them to paint the parking sensors on the red one or get it done yourself - had a bumper resprayed at a good place last year for 200 squid

The other half has a 05 1.3 Fit (imported version of the Jazz) and she loves it. I've found it alright whenever I've driven it - nippy enough and it certainly stands out.. hers is gold/yellow! - but you do feel like you're in a bus/people-carrier and thus it's not really a "man's" car! :D (my normal motor is a 06 Passat).

That said though, it's very cheap on petrol and it comes recommended by the Top Gear mum's remember! :)

Both, but well wear with the one you chose.

I saw a 2004 Jazz today and though it was a fine looking car but I do not know anything about it

After a difficult decision I have decided to try and get mine fixed up first and NCT'd in June. A new converter, exhaust needs checking, Skoda need to get back to me about ignition coils and I found where the leak was coming in today, so I can concentrate on drying out the car and fixing the leak. (in reverse order of course:p).

Aside of that, the dealer only came down 100 Euro in his price even when I offered him a portion in cash - so he can stuff it for a while:p

There was also the 06 Skoda for 7000 with my own which sounds tempting but have to talk to head office first on Monday about the problem coils as I don't want a repeat in 2 years with a newer car..........

Thanks everyone for all yer advice.:D
