I scuffed one a while back and want to get it repaired as its starting to really annoy me. I've already checked with one place and he said because its a polish finish its not possible but i thought maybe some here might know of somewhere in Dublin.

    Thanks.

the cost of getting it sanded down, filled, sanded again, painted etc etc

i would rather go and buy a mint wheel from one of the vag sites or ebay and keep the scuffed one as a spare just incase.

you should pick up a genuine mkV wheel for in and around 100-150 then just transfaer the tyre over.

also if yo get one wheel refurbed then it could be slightly off colour compared to the rest!

Try Collins engineering in Bray. www.wefixalloywheels.com

I second that. I have a friend with mk5 gti who contacted that place Collins Engineering in bray to sort his rims.
They said that they could re-polish them but he has yet to get them done.

But worth giving them a ring.

I rang Collins last week, and the person I spoke to tried to tell me that a very small chip out of an alloy could cause my car to fail its NCT. I thought it a rather strange thing to say, and I have to say that it put me off dealing with them. I was quoted €80 to repair a wheel.

This is the 18" GTI wheel right? If so, I'd say the chances of you getting a good repair are almost nil I'm afraid! It's something I'm only too aware of myself, having the same wheels. The polished finish means most places won't even attempt it.
Having read across various UK-based VW forums, its even pretty difficult to get them fixed over there too, a couple of places do it, and people have had it done with mixed results.
Trying to source an undamaged OEM one off Ebay or the likes is much easier said than done too! Lots of crap replicas about.

The person i spoke to said pretty much the same thing with the polish finish. I wouldn't mind if it was a small scrap but its a proper curb job :(. I parked in a fit of rage at the time, need to control the temper.

    I know the feeling!

A new genuine wheel costs a fortune from VW too (we're talking €450+ per wheel without tyres!)... but it'd be worth keeping an eye on Ebay, though as I say a genuine good set don't come along often.

    www.nulukwheels.co.uk

They will do them for you. Speak to Jason or Jim

I know there up the North but it's an easy 2hr spin up to Carrickfergus
