So wait. You're ticked off because you can't get the CoD 5 maps, yet you are on PC, where you have access to custom maps.

And you're annoyed that the xbox gets them and pays for them, while PC has to wait to get them for free?? That makes no sense whatsoever

So is WAW a dead game then. I noticed on xfire top 10 games it is doing very badly.

Aye, fairly dead alright! Signed in just then on Playstation Network and saw 113,897 players online. No doubt a lot more on Xbox and probably a lot on PC too. That is such a tiny number, how come nobody plays this game anymore? :(

Grow up, kid. WAW isn't dead, and wont be dead for a very long time to come.

While WaW may be dead on the PC, it's thriving on consoles. The opposite can be said for TF2. C'mon EA. 10 Servers for the EU on the PS3? That's AT MOST 160 people that can be online. The PC version is constantly being updated/

We were always getting them but go to cod waw official site and the developer has a thread explaining patching process and why its so complex for PCs:D

Where do you get this idea from that WAW is a dead game, there is a bug with the server filtering and hardly any servers show up ,go to grametracker.com and you will find many servers from loads of countries ( except eire).

As far as the PC game is concerned, despite being the older of the two games CoD4 currently has just over 3 times as many servers as W@W with on average 6-8 times as many active players.

Perhaps "dead" is over-dramatic but on PC W@W simply isnt even as close to being as popular as CoD4 is and it never will be. Add to that that the competitive gaming community almost unilaterally shunned the game at launch resulting in a game with no core body of dedicated players playing regularly - a quick glance over to the biggest competitive ladders in europe on clanbase shows approx 2200 teams in the cod4 5v5 ladder with a pathetic 25 teams in cod:W@W ladder

I run the only Irish 52-player cod4 server which has roughly 20 people in it permanently, I also run the only Irish 52-player cod:W@W server which at best i think has had 7 people in it at once and usually runs empty (currently off due to treyarch ****ters not giving linux server files for 1.4 on time)

the sad thing is the gameplay (especially the zombie/sp co-op) isnt bad at all - just not up to the particularly high standards set by cod4

m8 this isnt a cod4 -cod5 numbers discussion about ladders ,teams popularity etc ,thats not what my point is.
Basically waw has plenty of servers and have the numbers.
Of course cod4 is going to be better, ppl want modern warfare and are sick of ww2 ,except die-hard fans who will still keep it afloat like me.

well then my point would be that the amount of die-hards for the game is already declining - they exist in every game but a lot more so in others - "plenty of servers" is fairly subjective and in my eyes the game is already stagnating on PC. The reasons for this are numerous and cant be attributed to one or two key points - Setting is not relevant to me - I prefer cod4 as its a better game , not because I am flaky about its setting or am "sick" of any particular setting - it wouldnt matter if it was set 1000 years in the future on an alien planet it has good gameplay mechanics and is good fun.

I was a big fan of CoD:UO made by treyarch (grey matter studios at the time) and had high hopes for W@W, but despite the apparently vast amounts of money still being pumped into it treyarch showed a distinct inability to manage a functioning PC community, Im sure if they had they had been given the opportunity they would have preffered to have made premium Single player DLC for cod4 on consoles such as mp maps/new gametypes/ zombie maps/sp campaigns over creating their own seperate - pseudo-sequel

your point was that the game isnt "dead" - which I agree with, I would say its certainly limping a fair bit right now tho

    "good gameplay mechanics" ?
Funny that WaW runs on the same engine as MW.

I'm not a PC player however, so am not going to delve into that area. All I know is that I logged on on both games the other day on my PS3 and WaW had more players playing online. The game is certainly not dead on the Playstation, anyway.
