A dealer in the UK wont really want to take an Irish car as a trade in, and if they do they'll give you pittance for it. You might be able to trade it in against a UK car in an Irish dealers maybe?

there's loads of dealers with cars that haven't had VRT paid yet, you could try a trade in with them but you'd be better off selling privately here and buying over there to be honest.

Irish dealer can't legally sell a car to Irish person without VRT'ing it first. If they were caught doing this they would lose their TAN number which would mean they could effectively no longer deal in imported cars. If you had a UK address then they might be able to sell you a UK car.

Try dealers in the North, there have been some post on here of them offering to accept trade ins from the South. Not sure if that's only off new cars.

You know you can legally drive your Irish car for 30 days in the UK, on most insurance policies. Bring your stuff over in your own car and look around for a car over there. Then stick your car up for sale over here and come back if you get any serious callers and buy in the UK. But that sounds like a lot of trouble.
