Returning Maxtor Basics 1tb Drive to Pixmania

    I am sure someone else here got one of those ****ty maxtor basics 1 tb hd for cheap from pixmania recently.
    Mine packed in after its 3rd use as the drive stopped being reconised and this buzzing noise started, which i have read on their boards is a very common problem.

    I got in touch with Seagate/Maxtor and they said they will replace it if its under warranty which it is.

    I don't want a replacement as i don't want the hassle of another one and all their stuff seems to be really crap.

    Seagate said the only way to try and get a refund is through pixmania.

    It packed in after 30days aswell.

    Has anyone had a similar issue.

    same thing happend to me got it on Dabs, I'm raging used it to back up about 700gb of files ( ;) ) and went whack after about 3 weeks, all data gone, thinking about buying another one and cannablising it so I can get the data back off.

    How did oyu get on with the return.

    The other thing that scares me when you buy HD on line is how it is handled during transportation all the way to your door?

    Probably it is not easy journey.
