For the past 2/3 days there's been a really strong smell of fumes in my car when I first get in to it. Never noticed it before. Would this be something to take to the garage?

it's like exhaust fumes, a really noxious smell. and it's there before and when the engine is on.

What kind of car is it? We had a similar problem with Ford Fiestas. The injector seals kept failing in them.

Any chance you changed or topped up the oil just before the smell started? Oil spilt on the exhast manifold can create a right noxious stink.

Check your exhaust manifold, how old is it? You could have small hole in the pipework.

yep, most likely the beginning of the end for part of the exhaust

Thanks for the replies. Believe it or not I've just had a whole new exhaust fitted in January but maybe that could still be the problem? And I have topped up oil and did spill some but am unsure if the smell was already there! :o
