I love them, used to pretend they were real. Im sure it is completley unrelated to my current smoking habit

I used to get them too. Pretend to smoke and then scoff the chocolate down.

Actually giving children chocolate smokes. Was that not a tad irresponsible. I guess a modern analogy would be giving inner city kids candy heroin sticks

Weren't they chewey candy rather than chocolate?

I was also a big fan, and am a current smoker so those advertisers are savvy chaps.

I'm pretty sure I heard you can still get sweet cigs in Asia or Africa or somewhere like that where regulation is a bit more lax.

    They were so cool.
I never ended up smoking though, does that mean there's something wrong with me?

I remember the chocolate ones alright and later came the sticks of chalky type candy (Incredible Hulk on the box from what I remember).

I ended up nearly choking on one when I was younger and I think this might be something to do with I have never touched a real cigarette. Screw Ad-men!!

    They are illegal now

    (3) It shall be an offence for a person to sell confectioneries normally intended for sale to children, that have been manufactured in such a way as to resemble in appearance a type of tobacco product.

You can still buy them here:

    You are welcome!!:p

Remember them alright. The paper that covered the chocolate mad ethe whole exercise of eating them redundant hence why I walked around pretending to smoke 'em. :D But then the chocolate would melt from the heat of my fingers, mouth, etc.

The while chalk sticks were much tastier.

That's right Carroller. All designed to help all those of us idiots who can't think for ourselves! But children won't mimmick people shooting each other etc. after watching programmes depicting same on tv. The world isn't half mad enough!

I remember some kind of sweet cigarettes that were close to real ones in size...the bit in the middle was brown, can't remember if they were choc or some kind of gum. I do remember there was a light dusting of icing sugar (or flour?) on them that gave the appearance of smoke.

Does anyone remember the sweet cigarettes that came in very small boxes of ten and had a fact sheet, including a flag, about various countries? Definitely late 60's/very early 70's. Extremely educational. I remember knowing the capital, population, flag and area of most countries in the world!

Yeah the white chalky ones were best...might try that link and buy a few for old times sake...maybe not..pretty sure they were the reason I started smoking. Okay the fact nearly every peer did as well contributed.
Thank God I've kicked the habit a good few years now and I have more of a longing for some candy cigs.

Gah! Sweet cigs - my mam was giving up real smokes at one stage and found comfort in holding the candy stick kind. Mortified everyday going to the shop (I was in my teens) '10 packs of candy sticks pls'

I don't remember ones with red tips but I do remember chocolate cigerattes. I used to eat the paper on them as well although I don't think you were meant to lol!

I remember them, they were the white ones already mentioned, and the end was dyed red to make it look like it was lit. They had cards in them like real cigarette cards from the 30s/40s. They weren't all educational though, I had a load of Thunderbirds cards which I thought were the coolest things ever.

I remember these from about 10 years ago, they were just white paper around the chocolate, I ate the paper too but im not sure if you were meant to >.<

The packaging looked just like Mammy's fag box and i thought i was the bee's knees lol

Also, have a very bad smoking problem atm...go figure.

Manky chocolate - but hey, they looked like cigarettes.

I used to eat them with the paper still on. Actually, I ate half of them with paper on and half without, just to spice things up a little.

The red tip ones were the white candy ones not the chocolate version. Had forgotten about those free cards that came with them, don't remember ever collecting any.

I remember the candy ones in a Spider-man box and you could cut out a Spider sign on the back that you could wear as a medallion. Oh dear, how sad.
I liked some of the choccie ones too but I remember some of them had really awful chocolate. Ah the good old silly days!
