Started Carp fishing last year, we discovered a lake nearby and fell in love.

The lake is called "Angle Grove" and it is in Woodford Co. Galway.

Wanted to know what ye thought about these lakes and do ye know of any other good places?

Been to a couple others but they're ran far to strickt,

1 rod only, only float fishing, no ground bait etc......

Commercials not to everyone's taste. But they do serve a function for carpers. There are great wild tench fisheries all around the country, though concentrated in the midlands and northeast. These would be my personal preference. As for the Anglegrove fishery it's s'posed to be a good spot. There's another one in Tipp somewhere. And Cork and others. The reason they're strict with no gbait etc. is a fish welfare thing. They like to protect their investment and monitor the feed the fish get. It's all a bit sanitised and 'commercial' imo though. Get some wild tincas bubbling on a dewy June morning and that's hard to beat.
