    Hey.

The Ascaso that I brought into BT's was unrepairable so they refunded me the cost of the machine, decent enough customer service after this length of time.

Anyways, it now means I can do some shopping and have been thinking about the new Silvia. http://www.espressocoffeeshop.com/ has been mentioned and recommended on these forums recently. They also have a price match which is good as the same machine is less expensive on another site I won't mention as various people have had problems with them.

    Now for the questions.

    1. It's not a dual boiler like the Ascaso, but this is not so important now, in terms of value for money the Silvia is widely regarded. Agree?

    2. I want to get an espresso shot from this similar to what RE*AC*TOR poured for me at the meet last week. Possible or not?

    3. What's your opinions on the Rocky doserless grinder? This comes as part of a deal. The MC4 isn't *that* much more expensive. My Ascaso i-mini grinder is still working away perfectly, should I bother to change?

Ideally I'll order today. I value your input and comments.

    Cheers

If you're happy with the I-mini, stick with the I-mini. Consider spending that money on a PID for the Silvia down the line, if you think it's necessary.

It is certainly possible to get comparable shots from the Silvia, though not without a bit of a learning curve, I'd say.

Thanks again RE*AC*TOR, I'm about to hit the purchase button, holding off on the grinder is a good approach for the moment, I can revisit if needed. The Silvia has such a large following meaning I'd be less in the dark about techniques so I'm happy to learn.

    Cheers

    Thanks guys,

It's now ordered. I got a discount from espressocoffeeshop too. Just had to find a less expensive price for the same machine. Expected delivery is Monday. I'll have to get the camera out again! :)

    Cheerio
