Ok I have a 2nd cable ran from the LNB and terminated at both ends. The only thing that needs to be done is to put in the box and phone sky with the new card details.

Is it possible to just buy the box @ €100 and do the installation myself (thus removing the €100 needed for the cost of installation)?

You could buy a second hand hand sky+ box from eBay and use that, or even better upgrade the HardDrive in it to something massive like 750GB (like this months WotSat) giving you tonnes of recording time.
