    Hey newballsplease,

I'm in the exact same position.

Filled it out last 2 years and haven't got to 2nd stage.....I defo think there is a 'right' way to fill it out and certain qualities to emphasise. Any info from people who have gotten the job in the past would be very helpful.

    Thanks

just fill it in honestly and you will be fine. To be honest i applied to public jobs and revenue last year filled the forms out exactly the same got revenue didnt get public jobs. The year before got public jobs didnt get revenue :) so i dont know what the perfect answers are. Just take your time and think about each question

yeah i filled this in doubtful il get a reply given the current state of the country but meh why not.
I think some answers are really stupid like obv theywant people who are organized and punctual etc, so why say you're not?
I don't think its wise to be completely honest but you dont wanna lie completely either. If you have to lie in order to get picked then you're obviously not suited to the profession! But when you go in to an interview you talk yourself up so why not in the apllication form?:D

If you get through that application and get an interview you most likely i have the job. For my interview they brought me into a room. Asked me maybe 3 questions about where i worked before. 10 minutes out the door. Acutually thought i did bad becasue it was so short. Then got a call for a job. :)
I think you should try stay as honest as possible ( with in reason). Like dont fill it out completely as you think they want you to answer.

No i'm not saying you should lie outright- obviously they will see through it straight away when you go for the interview! But If someone asked you those same questions face to face in an interview you wouldnt say well im not organised or punctual and I dont like being supervised but other than that i think im perfect!
Thats what i was getting at :)

A few weeks after you fill it out they get back to you and tell you you're in a "yes" "no" or "maybe" group. 2 years ago I did it and really thought about the answers and was in the "no" group. Last year I didn't put as much into it and just filled it in and was in the "maybe" group. This group is pretty much "if there's more jobs than we have people in the 'yes' group we'll call you"

I got a call and was offered 6 month contract about 2 weeks after the interview. That was 8 months ago and they havn't let me go yet. I'm still in the department working away. Although from what other people told me if you're in the "yes" group you go to interview and are told that day what department you're in. The interview was less than 5 minutes for me. She had a sheet in front of her and she asked questions off it. They were like 'would you say you're (a)excellent (b)good or (c)bad at internet, writing letters etc. I was trying to elaborate as you would in other interviews but she kept stopping me.
