Recently Ive started to notice that sometimes my foundation (No7) wont take to some of my face, it goes all blotchy and pastey looking. its really noticeable after a while.

I thought it was the air con in wrk but now its happening when im not in wrk.

I moisturise alot before putting my make up on and that seemed to get rid of it for a while but now its comin back. It never used to happen so I dont think its the foundation.

    any experts knw anything?

Your skin could be a bit dry at the moment, are you making sure to drink plenty of water? This happens to me sometimes, and it's usually from not being hydrated enough.

Also, I find it's good to change moisturisers every couple of months, imo your skin can get used to the same one all the time and it doesn't work as well.

Have you tried using a primer?

Do you use a brush to apply your make up? I find using a brush allows foundation to 'set' better and lasts longer!

Mac have a great stippling brush. But there are plenty of cheaper alternatives in Boots/chemists/body shop etc

Smashbox do a great primer. They have them for all different skin types, I've found it to be excellent!

Are you exfoliating enough? I find this happens if I have been a bit lazy about exfoliating.

Look at your skincare routine, it sounds as if you have oily patches on your skin.
Use an oil free face wash (neutrogena do a good one) and oil free moisturiser, and if you still have the problem then use a primer (smashbox do good ones).

I'd second the primer, and i'd consider getting a new foundation? Prescriptives stuff is amazing, and I hate foundation!! :)

Was gonna post a thread on this exact topic this eve! Same prob! Tried exfoliating alright but that just seems to make my skin even drier and I drink gallons of water.....

    whats primer??

every 2nd or third day i give my face a good goin over.

used that wave thing, use toner on it and leaves me face soft. make up the next day is fine.

should i be doing this every day?? i dont want to drain my skin of stuff it needs :D

Primer is a fluid/gel that you put on after you moisturise (once it's soaked in) and it provides an even base for your makeup and prevents it from sliding off your face.

always wondered this- how long do you wait between washing your face and putting on moisturiser, then that and primer, then that and foundation, then that and powder ?

'cause i just dont have that much time in the mornings ?

also, is Clinique pore minimizer good as a primer?

I think it'd be fairly useless as a primer! I know when I used it it just got absorbed, and it comes in such tiny tubes you'd be better off with a real primer.

I use lanacane anti chaffing gel as a primer, available in boots.

The foundation may just be the wrong formulation for your skin??

Gosh do a primer that is pretty good if you cant afford the smashbox one. I have both but I always forget to lash it on!
