    Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on replacing the front (pre-cat) O2 probe on a 1.4L '00 VW Golf. The engine warning light is on (EGR fault active). I've picked up info on replacing the sensor itself, i just need to confirm its location. As fas as i can tell the probe is located at the front of the engine block, approx halfway accros at around the same height as the alternator. Is this right? Any tips are welcome!!

It will be located between the exhaust manifold and the cat. AFAIK the 1.4 only has the one O2 sensor but just check that there isn't another one downstream of the cat.
Did you get the car scanned using vag-com? Prepare to part with money as I got one for sensor 2 for my 01 gti and it was €145
