Startup disk ful {MSG}l but iv 200gb free

    Im getting a message constantly saying that my startup disk is almost full.

    I have 200gb's free on my 250gb hard drive, iv also noticed while browsing on firefox and safari at times the coloured spinning logo comes up and the app stalls for a second...

    Can anyone help.

    BTW im a mac Noob but fairly good with a windows PC so sorry i know my terminology above is a joke!

    Nope wasnt using photoshop or anything, its a new macbook! only 3 weeks old!

    I went into the disk utility and repaired disk permissions but that didnt do anything...

    You could try going to Disc Utility and erasing free space under the erase tab.

    Also, this is a really handy app that lets you see what's actually taking up space on your disk. I bought a copy but I think there's a trial version:
